The follicle is on the right and the area of blood is on the left ovary. Both showed up in an ultrasound. I have a normal uterine lining and a calcification on the right ovary.
I am 58 and have a follicle and blood in one ovary. Advise?
I'm not sure how the ultrasound showed blood in your ovary, as ultrasounds can detect mass, fluid and fluid-flow (detected by a Doppler ultrasound test), not necessarily the actual type of fluid.
In order for a follicle to show up on an ultrasound it must contain some fluid, so I'm guessing that maybe you have enough residual hormones in your body to create a follicle, or perhaps this is an old follicle which has maybe formed into a small cyst which has calcified.
By your post you seem worried so I would try and get an appointment with the person who sent you for the ultrasound tests, they are much more qualified to answer your questions, and relieve any worries you have.
Wishing you lots of luck.
Reply:Go to an OBGYN. I am surprised that if you have that condition and are not being treated by some kind of doctor. It could be a simple condition to fix, but it could be cancer too.
Reply:what in the hell? heres a tip, get off yahoo and go say hi to a doctor.
