Can I still get pregnant even after having my right ovary and fallopian tubes removed approx a year ago?

I had my right fallopian tubes and ovary removed approx one year ago, and now I would love to get pregnant I am just worried that I am unable to get pregnant with only one ovary. What are the chances if any? My surgery was major and was not performed laproscop. Are my chances as great as a woman with both. what diffenece does ahving one ovary make in the ovulation process?

Can I still get pregnant even after having my right ovary and fallopian tubes removed approx a year ago?
you should still be able to. it just might be harder to get pregnate. if you have any questions you should really talk to your doctor.
Reply:You probably only ovulate every other month, although mother nature may take over and make it regular. But likely ever other month. You can get pregnant no problem.
Reply:YES. Don't give up hope. I knew a woman who only had 1/4 of ONE ovary and got pregnant. The doctors told her she would probably (main word probably) not ever get pregnant. Her daughter is now a beautiful 3 year old. I also knew a woman who was born with one ovary and has 3 kids. I don't think it's totally impossible!
Reply:sure wh;y not. you have an ovary that works.are your periods monthly, then there should be no problems.. see a specialist to make sure and they could tell you if you need to do anything to increase your chances.. ie:: after sex lie on your left side to ensure the flow goes that way .. or something dumb like that,, it worked for mygirlfriend.
Reply:anything changes everything down there. it all depends on your body and how often your body has been using that other ovary....each person is different and it isn't always 50% on each side. if after a year of trying then i'd see a dr to see if there are any blockages in the other tube and maybe you might be a candidate for invetro.
Reply:As long as your left one is there your chances should be 50%

What's the Best way to get Pregnant with One Ovary?

I had an ovarian cyst, and an ovary removed when I was 15, by removed I mean the ovary is still inside me but it's not attached to anything. I still have one working ovary, but I have really irregular periods. My husband and I wanna have a baby, any ideas on the best way to do that. I have no Idea when I'm fertile because I sometimes go months without a period.

thanks.

What's the Best way to get Pregnant with One Ovary?
I guess an ovulation kit is going to have to become one of your best friends. Techically if you had only one ovary, and the average period is 28 days, you could get it every 56 days, which would mean that with an ovulation kit and a calendar, you could be pregnant before your next period.

Good luck!
Reply:Ask the doctor

Reply:well, you can still get pregnant even with one ovary. however, you should see a fertility specialist because it may be challenging to get pregnant without assistance.

Is it bad when a female stretches and she feels like she pulled an ovary or something in that region?

When I wake up in the mornings (or afternoons) I stretch and i feel a stabbing feeling around my reproductive area. like way down by like my ovaries and such but it only stabs my left side one. is that a bad thing?

Is it bad when a female stretches and she feels like she pulled an ovary or something in that region?
Yep, I'm another who has this 'problem'

It is your ligaments stretching... the female hormone estrogen has the effect of loosening/relaxing ligaments so you may find it is worse around the middle of your cycle.

It is not a 'bad' thing to happen but more care must be taken during this time (for example, females have more sports injuries around the time they ovulate)

Hope this helps :-)
Reply:I get this all the time also only on my right side. But I had to have a cyst removed off of my right ovary. The pain I'm feeling is from scar tissue. If it bothers you that bad then go to the doctors. They will do an ultrasound to make sure everything is ok.
Reply:This happens to me too! I've noticed that it's more noticeable when I have cysts (about 4-5 times a year), so maybe that's what's happening with you. When I get a cyst, i just have some dull, generalized pain, and they've always gone away on their own. I'm lucky. I actually have one now that won't go away! I'm 2 months pregnant, and it's still hangin on!
Reply:OMG, this happens to me all the time. I get this when I stand quickly from a sitting position. It must not have done any damage to me cuz my periods are all ok and ontime and I have had 4 kids! Good luck. Don't worry about this. It does indeed hurt for just those few seconds, but not to worry.
Reply:umm you cant "pull" an ovary

its probably an egg releasing

How is the meiotic cell division different in the testes compared to the ovary?

its different in the sense that one cell in the ovary divides forming 4 cells, one becomes the egg, three becomes the polar body which disintegrates....

in the testes, they divide and form 4 sperms...

If implantation did take place, it wouldn't be in your ovary.

What is the sharp intense cramping pain in my left ovary area?

I had a baby in February and an IUD in April, the pain comes when I am not bleeding and is more severe than normal menstrual cramps. Is this a normal occurance after either or should I contact my doctor?

What is the sharp intense cramping pain in my left ovary area?
Doesn't sound normal to me. Get an appointment with your doctor.
Reply:You should probably contact your doctor.
Reply:One possibility is that you could be having midycle pain. It's what they called mitzelschmertz. The only way to find out for sure is to consult your dr about this to see what they think this is. Yes, please contact your dr.
Reply:Yes contact your doctor so he can check on the placement of the IUD. It could also possibly be a cyst on the ovary which is very common and would give you the kind of pain you are speaking of. I hope you feel better soon.

Any natural suggestions for coping with early menopause, due to ovary removal and hysterectomy?

I am using HRT and would like to get off them. I feel cheated of my youth, but thankful i am alive. I did not expect to be dealing with this until another 20 or so years. I feel I am aging so rapidly, but feel so young and vibrant on the inside. I have tryed black cohosh but they did not stop my hot flushes, I was having them every 20 mins. Any suggestions would be great.

Any natural suggestions for coping with early menopause, due to ovary removal and hysterectomy?
I understand your dilemma I to had a complete hysterectomy at age35, I took the hormone replacements but I always felt very agitated, I started using Estrovent it is a natural hormone therapy, also progesterone cream works. When we get thrown into menopause UN naturally it's a shock to our system, It plays havoc with our emotions, and body. You could also try eating foods with natural estrogen's in them like sweet potatoes, eat plenty of Green Vegetables, Also find a good vitamin and mineral supplement. It may take a few months of taking these things to work because they have to build in your system. I still have hot flashes but not a severe. Keep your skin hydrated, I use a skin care line with vitamin c from Adrian on Hsn, it brings back the youthful glow to your skin. Remember your skin is a organ and needs to be fed, I also make my own face masques from bananas, strawberry's, aloe, these infuse natural peptides into the skin. I hope this helps Hun, if you have any questions feel free to email me.

God bless!
Reply:Botanical products containing or acting like estrogens may provide some of the benefits of estrogen in relieving menopausal symptoms.

You should try other botanical. Some are

red clover, hops, dong quai, flax seed, and dietary soy.

Add soy protein in the form of foodstuffs to your diet daily in place of animal protein.

Consider taking vitamin E supplements (talk to ur doctor about it)

Try deep, slow abdominal breathing (6 to 8 breaths per minute). Practice deep breathing for 15 minutes in the morning, 15 minutes in the evening, and at the onset of hot flashes.

Exercise daily. Walking, swimming, dancing and bicycling are good choices, along with yoga.

Last but not least avoid stress, heat, caffeine, alcohol, tight clothing, and cigarette smoke.

I hope this helps u!
Reply:a lot of women use the soy products on the market %26amp;the rub yam creams from health food stores. but if you stay on the hormones they surely will monitor your blood levels.

i've seen women my age,who had that done in there 20's cause they didnt want to have anymore kids, i dont know if they did not take their hormones %26amp; have a rough life, hard on their skin or what but they did not take care of themselves %26amp; lost their elasiticity of their skin.

not to worry you, but ya gotta take extra care of yourself now. Ice water will help with the hot spells, but wont cure them. Try all the soy products you can %26amp; google:

How hard is it for a woman with polycystic ovary disease to become pregnant?

It is very difficult, but it is possible please recomend that your friend check out this website www.soulcysters.com they have plenty of other women on this site that are very helpful and have lived with p.c.o.s. for years and have healthy babies! That's what gives me hope and I wish your friend luck as well!

How hard is it for a woman with polycystic ovary disease to become pregnant?
My cousin has this and was told that she might have a hard time concieving and even if she did there is a chance that she might not be able to carry a baby to term.
Reply:That disease is usually treated with birth control pills, so I'd say pretty hard. If she wants to conceive she should ask her doctor about other options.

Natural ways to beat ovary cancer?

I met a girl recently that has ovary cancer. One of the neatest/nicest people i've ever met.

She seems to be giving up. says that she believes her cancer has metasticized (spelling?).

Has anyone here beaten cancer using natural methods? certain foods or supplements and such?

Natural ways to beat ovary cancer?
Hi Nick,

He was diagnosed with Stage IV cancer over two years ago and it had spread to his lungs. He is doing well today and has no problems from this cancer. He was on chemotherapy and took radiation but the cancer was still growing. His oncologist had given up on him. This was about a year ago.

I wrote his story on my blog if you want to read it here:http://naturewillcure.com

His cancer has stopped growing and he is doing great. Cancer cells are very vulnerable and I believe there is a lot we can do to treat cancer successfully.

Reply:The only thing that I could suggest is a book called, "Back to Eden", by Jethro Kloss. You can get it on Amazon.com. It is an old-school herb book. There are remedies pertaining to cancer that have been cured. Certain herbal teas, distilled water. It should not be a substitute for Western Medicine, but if she has given up hope, it is worth a try.
Reply:Unfortunately, what I have seen is that herbs and vitamins and various other natural methodologies help to keep the person feeling better and able to stand up to chemo and radiation better, but do not cure the cancer.

When cancer has spread the prognosis is not so good; I'm sorry not to have better news for you.
Reply:cancer is a genetic defect, do you seriously think you can fix something like that by changing their diet? thats like using a fork to eat soup, its not going to happen.

and don't fall into the trap of thinking something is totally safe because its advertised as "natural" poison ivy is natural would you use it as sunblock?
Reply:Read the book "THE CURE by Timothy Brantley'

Heal your body, save your life.GOOD LUCK
Reply:There was an article in the most recent prevention magazine on page 50, it was really inspiring! You should buy the magazine for your friend and have her read it. There are natural doctors out there that say they can fix cancer but a lot are scammers so do your research and find one that is credible, it wouldn't hurt her to go to one to see what they have to say usually insurance covers it.

What are the side effects of having 1 ovary surgically removed?

learn more at www.medlineplus.gov you could have hormonal issues due to the loss of an ovary. ask a dr.,

What are the side effects of having 1 ovary surgically removed?
The biggest side effect I can think of is you would only have the chance to conceive a baby every other month, as the ovaries take turns releasing eggs.
Reply:less chance of having kids, and I think it would hurt for awhile.
Reply:None. I had it done years ago. It supposedly cuts your chances of having kids in half...but I had two children. There was no pain after the surgery week.
Reply:You might have some symptoms of menopause until your other ovary realizes it's working on it's on and go into over drive. It will soon pick up and do all the work on it's on without side effects.

It shouldn't prevent you have having children or anything lik that.

Good Luck!
Reply:It has been shown to reduce your chances by about 30% as the other ovary compensates.

One ovary and tubiligation, can i have this reversed and possibly have a child?

I am 36 yrs old and at the age of 13 had a tube and ovary removed due to a cyst. I then had 4 children by the age of 23. I then had a my remaining tube cut, tied and burned. What are my options of ever having a child? I am remarried and my husband and I would like a Baby!

One ovary and tubiligation, can i have this reversed and possibly have a child?
It's possible if they can reconnect that one tube. Discuss it with your ob/gyn. Best of luck.

There is a lump on my ovary but is there gonna be problem for me to get pregnant?

I went to hospital like 2 weeks ago and I found a information about what am i having yesterday. they said to me that i have a lump on my ovary.but they said , they want me to come back after period and find out if it's gone. or it's not gone. I'm getting worried because I've been trying for the baby. Can it be fixed?

There is a lump on my ovary but is there gonna be problem for me to get pregnant?
There's no way to know this until you know what is causing the lump. Go back for your follow up as advised.
Reply:It might be nothing but I feel I should be honest here.

I had a lump on my right ovary when I was 18, I was scanned and found to have an ovarian cyst. I was scanned 6 weeks later and told it had "gone down to a satisfactory size. However as it didn't need removing some cells were still there and this meant I had a mildly reduced chance of conceiving and a chance of it coming back.

As I said, this may not be the case with you, there are many things it could be, just thought I'd let you in on my experience.

Had an ovary removed in feb and having a really bad period back ache and stomach ache is this normal?

It was removed due to a large dermoid cyst, my period is now really heavy I have bad period pains in my stomach and back which I never usually had before. Is this normal?

Had an ovary removed in feb and having a really bad period back ache and stomach ache is this normal?
Yea my manager had it removed and she had the same problem. she went doctors and they said it will happen as you have just had it removed but if i were you, i would get it checked just to be on the safe side..

xx good luck
Reply:ive actually been having really bad 'like labour pains' but i never had a cyst removed. Im not pregnant. ive been under alot of stress lately, have you been under alot of stress?
Reply:I had an ovary removed when I was about nine for the same reason, but I only had v. painful stomach pains for about the first ten days of my first period. I think this is normal, and you should just use the good old hot water bottle to shush it down a bit.

Hope this helps xx

Has anyone had an ovary removed and had a baby afterwards?

Just had a ovary removed due to a cyst and we wanted to have another baby in a few years but could we be harming our chances by waiting ?

Has anyone had an ovary removed and had a baby afterwards?
My mother had one of her ovaries and tubes removed when she was 12. On top of that she had mild uterine polyps (benign growths in the uterus walls)

The doctors told her when she was 12 that she would have a 1% chance of EVER having children. Back then they didn't have IVF available... so pretty much you either got pregnant or you had to adopt.

So when my mother and my father got married at ages 16 and 18, they both knew it would be a slim to no chance that they would ever have a baby.

By the time my mother was 26 years old, she had 4 children completely naturally! I am her 4th :)

I am living proof that doctors can be VERY wrong with their diagnosis. Dont lose hope, it will happen for you when the time is right!

Just keep going to your doctor and eventually you can get on Clomid or injections to stimulate your ovary. Its also possible you might not have any problems at all concieving

But since you say you don't want to try for a few years.. don't worry about it right now. ^_^
Reply:My sister had to have an ovary removed in Dec 03 when she was pregnant with her first child. She had a cyst that was growing with all the pregnancy hormones. She now has 3 beautiful children. She didn't need any sort of fertility help to conceive any of her kids. Hope this helps.
Reply:My Mother had me 3-4 years after having a ovary moved do to a tubal pregnancy. I doubt you will harm your chances.. they may only get better as you heal.
Reply:me and my wife are going thru the same problem. we were told that we should have no problem ,because you can have a normal healthy sex life and have kids with one ovary, its kinda like your kidneys born with two can live without one
Reply:A friend of my mom's had a son with one ovary and no tube.

Sharp piercing pain off and on around left ovary during ovulation? What could this be?

This is the first time I've ever experienced this sort of pain this badly. I've had pain before during ovulation but not this intense. It comes and goes and hurts more if I move alot. I had a baby girl 1 year ago. Any helpful answers would be great.

Sharp piercing pain off and on around left ovary during ovulation? What could this be?
It could be a fibroid. I'd check with your doctor. Heating pads work wonders.
Reply:it could be an ovarian cyst, a fluid filled sac around the ovaries. go to gyne. Dr. and they will give u a ultra-sound to find out for sure.
Reply:Well if it feels similar to cramps then you might just have the type of cramps that a few percentage females get during ovulation time. Other than that, try checking with your doctor... Hope this helped and good luck.
Reply:i have pain when i ovulate too...and 2 times is had pain that was just like it, but worse...and each time i was pregnant...apparently a small percentage of women who feel it when they ovulate can also feel it when they get pregnant...i guess it is when the egg implants....is pregnancy a possibility for you?

What are the symptoms of a left ovary infarction?

I asked a question a minute ago and someone said it sounded like symptons to that....What are the symptoms how can you tell?

What are the symptoms of a left ovary infarction?
If you're typing questions, I highly doubt you have an infarction in your ovary. You would have a serious, sudden onset of pain and not be able to function. This is a total blockage of blood to a whole organ, causing it to die and no longer function. You would know if you had this....it happens all of a sudden like a heart attack-a myocardial infarction.

You could have ovarian cysts or many other things..it could even be mittleshmirtz-pain from ovulation. I haven't read your previous question. Go to the doctor if it keeps bothering you.

You have to be careful about how seriously you take answers on here-there aren't many doctors answering %26amp; sometimes ppl hear about 1 condition %26amp; think they see it all over the place.
Reply:First of all, I highly doubt it is an ovary infarction. You would have SEVERE, sudden onset of pain in your left pelvic region. As far as your periods being irregular, I am 25 years old and mine have always been very irregular. I would go for months without a period and then have one that would last 3 weeks. This went on for years. The only time they have been regular was when I have been on the pill. I don't think it is anything to worry about but if you are concerned you can talk to your gynecologist and maybe start the pill.

To answer your follow up question, an ovary infarction occurs when you lose effective blood flow to the ovary. If not fixed immediately it can cause the ovary to die. But like I said previously, if that was what was going on you would be in so much pain that you would not be sitting in front of your computer. You would not be able to tolerate it.
Reply:pain

Ever hear of out of the ovary fertilization?

Im not talking in a dish but having the penis in tight at the ovary some how the egg is dislodge and instincly makes its way down the males ureatha where it manages into the scrotum and testes that feel very disticly feminim eggy. Its ok for a while then one gets a craving for intercourse again and it is is ejaculated back into a ovary. If one dose not do it with a certin amount of time discomfort sets in mutaly.

Ever hear of out of the ovary fertilization?
The penis can't get anywhere near the ovary...so its not possible
Reply:Sry this isn't an aswer but wat the heck lol i never heard of that and if u did from wat source because it sounds intriguiging!
Reply:I've heard of pregnancy occurring outside of the uterus (the fertilized egg implants itself on the liver), but I think you and your locker room buddies are grasping at straws here.

And just how do testes feel "eggy" anyway??

How does the ovary decide which female egg gets to exit each month?

Is there an order in which they exit? Is there any research into how order is determined? Random? Survival of fittest? Physical position in ovary etc?

Age of Mom= to health of egg?

Order correlated to age of Mom or "fitness" of individual egg?

How does the ovary decide which female egg gets to exit each month?
LoL sweets ... well i think it is actually the survival of the fittest ,,,,,, well inorder to understan which egg gets choosen ... u must first know about ...FOLLICULAR STIMULATING HORMONE ( FSH) ... this is a hormone which is secreted by your pitutary gland during ur starting of a new menstrual cycle ..... and this stimulates a lot of follicles (developing eggs in your ovary) and all the follicles start developing and this is done by them developing receptors on their surface for the FSH . Receptors are like activating points and get activated when they come into contact with this FSH , and once activated they make the follicle develop into a egg .

But off all the follicles stimulated , the one which has the easiest access to the the FSH will start developing more receptors than the other follicles , and when it matures into a egg (before the other follicles) it will start producing oestrogen in high quantities , this oestrogen is a hormone which will inform the pitutary gland that a egg has matured and will stop the production of FSH

SO when the FSH has stopped all the other developing follicles die off , and only the developed egg ( it is actually called the dominant follicle) survives , and when a particular hormone called LEUTINIZING HORMONE (LH) , is secreted by ur pituatry , this egg gets shot out from ur ovary and via ur fallopian tube enters the uterus .

Sometimes 2 eggs can become the dominant follicle , and this may result in twins :) ( this is the usual reason for people who go into medical infertilty therapy and having twins )

Does it matter if one ovary is larger than the other?

I had an ectopic pregnancy and lost my right tube. 7 months later, I went in for a vaginal ultrasound and was told that my right ovary is larger than my left ovary and that the dominant follicle on my right ovary is larger than the dominant follicle on my left ovary. What does this mean? Does this mean I mostly ovulate from my right ovary?

Does it matter if one ovary is larger than the other?
I don't think it matters which is bigger. I don't see why it would. It's like having one larger breast. It just happens. Just to let you know though, I would ask the doctor if you were concerned. We really don't know this stuff here. Good luck.
Reply:ususally it does not matter..it just means you have a dominant side.
Reply:Probably best to seek the answer from a trained professional.

Food that develops in the ovary wall is usually associated with?

A. making pies and cakes

B. the pollination mechanism

C. germination of seeds

D. attracting a pollinator

E. dispersal of seeds

Thanks.

Food that develops in the ovary wall is usually associated with?
"Food" that develops in the ovary wall is the nectar.Nectar is rich in simple sugars and hence a good source of food and energy to insects.

Flowers usually secrete the nectar when the pollen grains are developed and ready to be dispersed. The nectar attracts the insects which visit the flower. The pollen gets attached to the hair on the insects leg. When insect visits othe flower it deposits this pollen on the stigma of the other flower..
Reply:if it is in the context of food, then a. But the ovary wall does aid in seed dispersal too.
Reply:i'd say A since that usually refers to a fruit.

I have polycystic ovary disease and i want to have a baby what should i do?

I'm 20 years old and I'm a junior in college i have polycystic ovary disease and i want to have a baby, but my family disagree. polycystic ovary disease is a life long disease and if i dont choose to have a baby now i might never be able to have a child. i dont want to hurt my family but i feel i have to stay true to myself. I've been depressed about it for 2 weeks now and I have my first doctors visit on april 7, 2007. i dont want to be on birth control because it will stop me from doing what I want to do so badly. Then again i find myself asking am i ready for a child right now and realizing how having a child right now can damper my future. I'm a child development major I know about babies but do i know enough? this subjuct really hit home for me because in the bible it states that women were put on earth to bear children and being a women that can bear children leaves me asking why am i here? what purpose do I have on earth?

I have polycystic ovary disease and i want to have a baby what should i do?
First of all you need to get counseling to get out of this depression. It won't help you to get pregnant, if you aren't healthy even to take care of a child, emotionally and physically.

Second, I have PCOS as well. You can still get pregnant, there are medications that will help with ovulation. You need to get on a good diet to maintain your insulin levels and help you lose weight and help with the depression.

Thirdly, there is more purpose than just bearing children and apparantely you have not searched the Bible, but just read that one passage. Look in Proverbs, there are many references to the beauty of women. God created ALL people and loves ALL of us, not just men.
Reply:First, if you're having any doubts about your readiness to be a parent, it's because you're NOT ready. At the very least, because you're still a student, you're certainly not financially ready. Not being financially ready, in and of itself, is more than enough reason to not become a parent.

Further, this is your decision to make and not your families. It's your body, not your families, and it's your responsibility, not your families.

Talk with a OB/GYN who specializes in PCOS. It may take a while to see that person, but in the meantime, DON"T TRY TO CONCEIVE.

The bible is written by human beings, and in doing so, they made plenty of changes, changes of omission and of commission and simple translation and transcription errors. It's not a reliable guide to your purpose on this earth. It's not a reliable guide to anyone's purpose on this earth. If your purpose was only to bear and raise children, you wouldn't have an intellect or the desire to use it. You are far more than a uterus. All women are far more than a uterus. Don't believe that other, repressive, reprehensible hype. Think for yourself.
Reply:Go see an endocrinologist....*Reproductive Doctor* He or she can help

Good luck.. It took me 11 years between my 2 to get pregnant, so I hope it works out for you..:)
Reply:I have PCOS also. It's ridiculous that you think you have to get pregnant now because you fear you won't be able to later. That is an absolutely inaccurate assumption. I've had PCOS since I was 14! I'm 30 now and am currently in fertility treatments to try and conceive. It doesn't matter how old you are, chances are that if you have PCOS you'll have to have fertility treatments anyway. Wait until you're older and you're married and you're ready to start a family.
Reply:my sister was in the same situation as you,she now has a healthy 1!/2 year old with no complications. all she done was change her diet.also one of her friend has the same and it also worked for her.my sis was trying for a baby for 10 years ,she gave up hope untill the day she fell preg.the docs warned she may not carry full term but she showed them!! it can be a life long disease but it can also rectify itself! good luck
Reply:Ok no one really knows what their purpose is here on earth. Only God knows. As for the depression you should talk to someone (doctor or non-family) to help with that. I think if your cysts are under control you shouldn't have much of a problem with getting pregnant. As for your family, mine is the same way. My first pregnancy ended at 5 weeks cause I had and ectopic (where it doesn't move into the womb area) I almost lost my life from it. Then 7 months later I got pregnant again and I had my son. Then last year I had another ectopic this one wasn't so bad this time, but it scared my family and they don't want me to try anymore. But I want more. If you are where you want to be in life or know where you are going, things should turn out ok. Kids are fun but they are also hard work. So good luck hope you figure things out.
Reply:Having a baby for this reason alone is not right. You are mis-informed that you have to have one now or not at all. A good friend of mine has had this disease since high school and gave birth last year at 27 years old.

I suggest you see an endocrinologist. There are many things that they can do to help you have a baby when the time is right. Don't deprive a child of a married mom and dad just becase you think you won't be able to conceive later in life.

You need to get all the facts before you make any major decisions.

Do you think having a cycst in you left ovary can stop you from ovulating and having a baby?

Its really serious. Been to the doctor answer I could have a baby but some doctors really don't know what their are saying sometimes. Help?

Do you think having a cycst in you left ovary can stop you from ovulating and having a baby?
Ovarian cysts don't usually cause a problem. Many women with cysts are able to have healthy pregnancies. If your doctor said you're fine, then you probably are. If you don't believe him/her get a second opinion.

Good luck.

Reply:depends what kind of cyst it is... and trust me doctors usually know what they're saying.. they didn't go through that many years of school for nothing.... trust your dr.. if they say you can have babies ... you probably can.. if you don't trust that dr. get a second opinion.. good luck and i hope it works out for you!
Reply:Even if your left ovary is not functioning well, you still have the right one. Usually ovaries release an egg in turns so even with your left one totally out (which I cannot tell), you will have a good chance to get pregnant.
Reply:no it can't you still have a right ovary what can release a mature egg
Reply:Perhaps it could.

Does anyone know if there is a test you can do that tells you if a certain ovary is working?

I had a tubal pregnancy last January. Have been ttc since. I had a HSG done and found out that my right tube was destroyed with the surgery so now I can only get prego from the left ovary, but I'm not even sure it's working!

Does anyone know if there is a test you can do that tells you if a certain ovary is working?
No, no "home test" will tell you. You ovulate alternate sides through-out your fertile life; there is a dominant side which will ovulate but you never know which one it is unless you are in-tune with your body or through an ultrasound.

I lost my right tube to an ectopic, and it apparently is my dominant ovary, but I did ovulate the last three cycles on my left (no trouble feeling it). So... it can change anytime.

All the best.

Reply:no i think you may need to visit your doctor for that...good luck
Reply:Could you go back to the doctor who told you that your right tube was destroyed, and see if they looked at the left at the time? If that's not an option, you should go back to the doctor and get them to take a look at the left tube. You may want to consider a new doctor, since the one you saw doesn't sound like he/she is very good at giving their patients all of the info that they should have.

Hello anyone out there going in for a cyst on ovary removal?

i saffured a miscarriage over the weekend, and they did a routine scan and found a cyst on the ovary. it was stated it was a dermoid one with teeth hair etc uggggh. Anyway since cancer runs in the family i am worked up to a state convincing myself i have the worst. Anyone out there in the same boat. Thanks.

Hello anyone out there going in for a cyst on ovary removal?
I had a cyst that was aspirated when I had a tubal ligation. I guess it wasn't the same as yours. But, don't worry and best wishes.
Reply:I had a routine scan at 20 weeks and was found to have a cyst on my ovary. I was rushed into hospital to have the ovary and cyst removed. It was successful and I had a baby girl and have since gone on to have another child. At the time it was very worrying but if I didn't have the cyst removed I would have lost my baby. Go and have the surgery and I am sure like me you will make a full recovery, just remember to take it easy for a while afterwards. Good luck.
Reply:Hi there, i had a dermoid cyst removed 10 years ago and unfortunately lost the ovary too as the cyst grew so large it also got very painfull as it twisted on its stem. I would get it removed asap and please don't worry its very common. It shouldn't effect your fertility either as i went onto to have my daughter whose now seven. Hope i've help and all the best for the future x
Reply:I am nothing but 16 but I had a cyst on my ovary..not sexually active but the doctor told me and my mom that It comes from an egg before every menstrual cycle and they are supposed to dissolve if pregnancy dosent occur and if it doesnt happen then it can turn into a painful cyst but my cyst ruptured and at caused a bladder infection and they gave me antibiotics and cleared all of it up...it might not help you but when i saw the words"OVARIAN CYST" i felt the need to reply..sry if it doesnt help you...

Going to the doctor but having a lot of abdominal pain on the left ovary side?

Im going to the doctor today at 5. I had a miscarriage at 5 weeks on June 26th. It passed on its own and my next period came July 26th and August 26th. Both were incredibly painful. Ive been cramping badly, three weeks of cramping, one week off, then 3 weeks of cramping again. This past month I was convinced I was pg, had all the symptoms and was shocked when I got my period. The cramping and pain is unbearable. Ive been also very dizzy and lightheaded for about 3 weeks now. (I thought it might be anemia when I found it wasnt pg) Ive also been having some trouble with my lungs closing up which is a recent development this past week but I thought that might just be allergies cos the weather was so bad. I also have some brain fog, lots of fatigue and my muscles and joints hurt. Yesterday afternoon I had sudden burst of pain in the area of my left ovary. It felt like a pulled muscle. Its still there now the next day. I feel a little numb from the waist down as well. Could this be a cyst?

Going to the doctor but having a lot of abdominal pain on the left ovary side?
Glad you are seeing your Dr.. There is certainly a possibility that you are experiencing a ruptured cyst. Some women don't really notice them, some find them to be extremly painful. Both being there and when they rupture.

Hopefully your Dr. will do an ultra sound and determine if and what you are dealing with. Please do let us know what the Dr. has to say.

Good luck with this, it is difficult when trying to conceive, but it can get so difficult when one is dealing with pains, miscarriages, etc....
Reply:Sorry to hear that. Hope they get it fixed up soon. Trust me, it is no fun living with this kind of pain. Report It

Does the fact that my left ovary has a cyst account for my left leg feeling cold all the time?

And if so, would it also be responsible for my swollen fingers on my left hand?

Thanks for answering.

Does the fact that my left ovary has a cyst account for my left leg feeling cold all the time?
Actually when I had a cyst on my ovary and my ovary swelled, My whole right leg (the cyst was on my right ovary) was feeling cold and in a lot of pain. The ovary has swollen and was pushing on a nerve in my leg. That was worse then the pain in my lower stomach. Seriously. I was complaining about my leg hurting and thowing up from the pain.

Im not saying this is what you have...but Im saying an ovarian cyst can cause side effects on your legs...
Reply:no-this sounds like a serious circulation problem and you should seek medical attention right away (within next 24 hours)

how long ago were you told you have the cyst? did they tell you how big it was?

I have a 5cm one on my right ovary that i've had for 2 weeks now. my doctor is thinking about removing it due to the pain it's causing-i do have pain in my right inner thigh but no coldness.

please call your dr asap or have someone take you to the emergency room (especially if you're entire left leg is cold or you can't walk on it and if you're left hand is severly swollen to the point where you can't bend your fingers).
Reply:probably not.......i have polycystic ovaries and have never suffered coldness in either leg....

Can having one ovary disturb u hormones and make it harder for conceiving?

I'm not a medical professional but I believe that the removal of that ovary can cause some hormonal imbalance and that your still able to conceive if the right ovary and falliopian tube is still intact. Have you talked with your ob/gyn?

What causes an ovary to shink and what can be done to revese the problem??

I also have an enlarge utarus, my doctor told me there is nothing I can do about it. My mid section makes me look like I am 3-5 months preganant. I have gain 50 lbs in these last 3 years. I used to excercise and eat right, now I have no energy to workout and I eat a lot of bad carbs and sweets.

What causes an ovary to shink and what can be done to revese the problem??
I don't have an answer, but I'm going to suggest you repost this question in the biology section. You will probably get a much more informed response over there.
Reply:i think it happens because your reproductive are no longer useful %26amp; the ovaries naturally shrinks,it's not needed anymore.from experience, those bad carbs %26amp; sweets most likely make situation even worse, think bout diabetes/hypoglycemia i have diabetic issues because not only inherited,i love sweets! good tasting carbs.good luck!

How many different types of surgery are there for ovary removal?

Afraid of the pain from the gas in the abdomen after laproscopic type.

How many different types of surgery are there for ovary removal?
I'm assuming that you're having your ovary removed for cystic disease rather than for cancer as no surgeon would likely perform an ovarian cancer operation as a laparoscopic procedure. If the surgery is to remove a single ovary, it can either be done open or laparoscopically. If you are having a hysterectomy performed with it, it can be done vaginally.

Numerous studies have been done comparing laparoscopic approaches with open approaches to surgery. Laparoscopic surgery is associated with longer operating times, but shorter hospital stays and less postoperative pain. I don't do many GYN cases, but the laparoscopic cases I do typically result in much less pain than open procedures. After a laparoscopic surgery, the gas is evacuated from the abdominal cavity. A small residual amount may remain and this can irritate the diaphragm causing referred pain to the shoulders typically. This usually resolves in a day or two as the gas is reabsorbed by your body. Incisional pain from a large incision is usually much worse than the pain from retained gas in the peritoneal cavity.

If ovarian cancer is suspected, you will need an open surgery with total hysterectomy and removal of the ovaries with lymph node sampling and debulking of metastasized tumor. This doesn't really sound like what you've got, though.
Reply:Well, if you do not have laproscopic surgery, the ovary could be removed vaginally or thru an abdominal incision. If cancer is suspected, I am sure the surgeon would want a good view of the surrounding area and the ability to collect biopsies if necessary. I believe this is difficult with the vaginal approach. The laproscopic approach avoids an abdominal incision. The gas used is removed at the end of the surgery. The gas does not enter your bowel, so you do not have gas in your bowel after the surg. Really need to talk to the surgeon and drill him til you feel absolutely clear on the details. Hope you do well.

What is the distinction between a superior and inferior ovary?

Also, if possible, the difference between the hypogynous, perigynous, and epigynous flowers?

Thanks

What is the distinction between a superior and inferior ovary?
A superior ovary is an ovary attached to the receptacle above the attachment of other floral parts.

An inferior ovary lies below the attachment of other floral parts.

The other floral parts are the petals and sepals.

Hypogynous flowers have superior ovaries.

Inferior ovary flowers are termed epigynous.

Flowers that are intermediate are termed perigynous or half-epigynous.

What does it mean if a doctor says there is a cyst on my ovary?

but then says not to worry and just come back in 2 months. doctor said it might be normal.

what does this mean? i am worried.. what should i do?

What does it mean if a doctor says there is a cyst on my ovary?
A cyst is just a small sac of fluid. They can appear in many different places in the body. Ovarian cysts are very common in women and usually go away on their own. The doctor just wants you to come back in 2 months to make sure the cyst hasn't grown any. If they get too big, they can rupture, which can be dangerous. If the cyst is getting bigger, they may recommend removing it. But in most cases they go away on their own. Nothing to worry about. The fact that your doctor is following it just means your doctor is on top of things and will make sure it doesn't get to the point where it can cause you problems.
Reply:Well, every month one of your ovaries produces one or more cysts that are there for the egg which your body is going to expel at ovulation. This cyst is normally like 1-3cm. Sometimes your hormones go a little crazy and it can get bigger - and sometimes it can stay there and keep getting bigger instead of going away like it's supposed to after ovulation.

So, Doc saying to come back in two months is to see if the same cyst is there and has gotten bigger. I get bigger cysts on my right ovary all of the time and they are more painful than when I ovulate on my left side, but they go away. That is just my "normal."
Reply:Ovarian cysts are normal to have. Often women don't even know they have them. They can come and go without incident. The Doctor just wants to check you in a few months to make sure it has resolved. On occasion cysts will get bigger and need to be removed by having surgery but this is in no way the usual. In most cases they do go away. Don't stress over it. I get cysts all the time and they have always gone away. Hope this helps.

Is it better for a woman with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome to have children earlier?

Is there any scientific evidence to back this up?

Is it better for a woman with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome to have children earlier?
I haven't seen anything in the studies to indicate this. What I have heard from some women who use Glucophage to take care of Insulin Resistance found that their periods became more regular and they were able to get pregnant without much problem.

I have had a hysterectomy. I have only my left ovary. Can you harvest an egg from that ovary for a surrogate?

I want to have a baby but have had a hysterectomy. the doctor left one ovary and took the other along with the uterus. the doctor said that the one ovary will produce enough harmones for me not to have to take any. but does that ovary still ovulate and is it possible to harvest that egg(if it does) to have a baby with a serogate mother?

I have had a hysterectomy. I have only my left ovary. Can you harvest an egg from that ovary for a surrogate?
My understanding is as long as that ovary produces eggs still, YES you can harvest them. You may have to be put on some special meds for a while just to be sure.

Good Luck

Momma P
Reply:Your ovary will still ovulate and produce viable eggs. There will be the option to harvest your eggs, but it is a highly invasive procedure, but worth it if you want a baby.
Reply:ye s for so long
Reply:Hasn't worked for me yet.
Reply:Yes, that ovary can provide eggs. I know several women with only 1 ovary who have had several pregnancies each.

Anyone got pregnant with just one ovary and how long it take you?

Just wondering how long it can take women with one ovary removed-so only one ovary remaing to get pregnant and if they needed fertility treatment or not?

Anyone got pregnant with just one ovary and how long it take you?
I am in the exact same situation. I had an ectopic in my right ovary and had to have it and my fallopian tube removed. That was three months ago and I've not long had a consultation with my surgeon. He said that in 'normal' circumstances (with both ovaries) you ovulate from alternative ovaries each month (or so). Although once you have one removed the remaining ovary takes over for both. Otherwise you would only have a period once every two months. He said that the chances of me returning to him with another ectopic would be a 1 in 10 chance, therefore, theoretically, I could go on to have nine babies before I would have another ectopic (great news!). He also said that it could take a bit longer to conceive but it certainly doesn't half my chances of getting pregnant.

As I say, that was three months ago and I have just had my AF and am now trying again, so i have not had to look at the option of fertility treatment as yet so I'm sorry that I can't advise you on that aspect. Although it is a good idea to look at all the options open to you. My consultant said that as soon as I find out that I'm pregnant to go and see him for early scans, blood tests etc to determine if everything is ok.

I hope this helps, and that soon enough you will have your little bundle of joy.

Take care of yourself.
Reply:When you have two ovaries they usually alternate every month at ovulation. When you lose one, the remaining ovary does the job of both. You don't ovulate every other month just because you have one ovary (if you're ovulating every other month, it's a hormonal issue not because you have one ovary). So to answer your question specifically...your chances of conceiving are about the same with one ovary as they are with two.

No fertility treatments are needed unless there's some OTHER kind of fertility issue.

Good luck!
Reply:A family friend had this same situation. She had only one ovary and desperately wanted to conceive. They miscarried twice, and the third time was successful. Today they have a beautiful bouncing baby boy that just turned one. She did not use any fertility treatments.

Best of luck to you! :)
Reply:I have an aunty who only has one ovary and she has 5 kids..

She lost the ovary due to an ectopic pregnancy..That was her 2nd pregnancy. So she pretty much went on to have 4 more kids..

After the ectopic I believe she had her baby about 7 months to a year later..

They were all born healthy :)

Oh and no treatment needed...
Reply:I had one ovary and fallopian tube removed because of a cyst. It took me around 3 months to get pregnant when i got married. Your doctor should have told you that you can still get pregnant. Also i think its false about all the ovulating every other month etc. I ovulate every month.
Reply:I know this woman who got an ovary removed at 12 because of a large cyst engulfed it. She was told she would never be able to have kids naturally because of damage to the other fallopian tube. So, in her marriage kids weren't expected.

Well after her and her husband had gotten married a year later she was pregnant with #1, and 3 more followed in the next 5 years. So yes, its definitely possible. Sometimes your ovary will compensate for the other one being gone (after a while) and you might even start ovulating every month again

So don't give up hope! You only need 1 egg and 1 sperm to make a baby :)

p.s.- That woman I was talking about is my mother, I am the youngest of her 4 kids ^_^
Reply:It takes a little longer than people with 2, because the ovaries take turns to put out an egg. So in actuality, it could take a few months longer, or you could get lucky and the one ovary could put out an egg first! It's just luck of the draw.
Reply:If one ovary is removed, the other takes over all the egg production [ if it didn't, the woman would have a period every other month ].

My sister had four kids in 4 and 1/2 years, breastfeeding.

Don't worry about fertility - just don't use birth comtrol!

What does it mean to have a lazy ovary?

Because my girlfriend and I are trying to concieve and here doctor says she has a lazy ovary, so what does that mean for a planned pregnancy?

What does it mean to have a lazy ovary?
This means that she is ovulating normally, but her ovary isn't producing the proper amount of eggs that is to be released while she is ovulating. I had a lazy ovary, but my doctor gave me a shot for it. It made my menstrual cycles crazy, but I started releasing enough eggs. I now have two boys. The only side effect i got from the shot is that my body now rejects any form of birth control, so I had to get my tubes tied in order to not get pregnant again!
Reply:Maybe she should workout.
Reply:I have never heard of a lazy ovary unless it means that she doesn't ovulate regularly or something like that. You and your girlfriend should have asked the Dr what that means and what your chances of conceiving are? My first advice would be to get married before trying to bring another life into this world. Give your baby some stablity in its life.

I think I have polycystic ovary syndrome and I'm a little nervous about going to the doctor?

I'm 20 years old and I'm going to make an appointment next week with a hormone specialist, I believe I might be diagnosed with pcos. I'm not planning to have children anytime soon (definitely down the line). What kind of tests will be done on me to accurately diagnose me with PCOS? And what will the treatments me at this stage?

I think I have polycystic ovary syndrome and I'm a little nervous about going to the doctor?
If you have irregular periods you can go on birth control. If you have extra hair some types of birth control will help with that. Like Yaz and Yasmin. When you do decided you want a child the doctor can put you on a drug called clomid to help you ovulate.

I was diagnosed by a blood test but the doctor might also do an ultrasound to see if you have any cysts in your ovaries. But the ultrasound should not be used as a diagnosing tool. Some women with PCOS do not have cysts.

And don't be nervous!
Reply:dont worry,its just an ultrasound.not sure what meds,it differs depending on severity,age,etc.

How Can I Get An Ovary Removal?

I am 22 and single. I have wanted an ovary removal surgery for several years, but keep getting the same answers. I am told that I am too young and too single. I suffer from chronic depression and extremely horrible periods. The combination does not have any decent outlooks. I have tried more medications than I can name to deal with both problems, but nothing has found a decent solution. While doctors tell me that nothing more can be done for me, there is always a final alternative. I need to know how I might go about finding a less fatal option, aka ovarian removal, to my problems.

How Can I Get An Ovary Removal?
That is not the answer honey... your will just get different symptoms and will have to take hormone replacements.

What happens in the ovary during the follicular and postovulatory phases?

Follicular - the follicle in the ovary develops from Follicle Stimulating Hormone. When it has matured, it releases the egg, which gets pulled into the fallopian tubes

Postovulatoy - Leutenizing hormone turns the matured follicle into a corpus luteum, which, when matured, releases progesterone to aid in pregnancy (if mother is not pregnant, the corpus luteum doesn't sustain itself and the follicular cycle begins again)

Breastfeeding and have a strange ovary pain?

I have a 19 week old son who I exclusively breastfeed. I am sexually active with my husband but I keep forgeting to take my pill. Just today I have a very bad pain on both sides like ovary pain. Not sure what stage of cycle I am in as period has not returned due to breastfeeding. Any advice would be good.

Breastfeeding and have a strange ovary pain?
It could be that your body isn't use to ovulating anymore and that may be what it is. It could also be something that needs attention. I would go in. Either your Family Doc or your Ob-Gyn. They could rule out any of the things that would need attention. They could give you some advice about birth control that would fit your life better too. Some people have a really hard time with that pill. I would definitely say go in and maybe take a pregnancy test in 14 days or so. Good luck.
Reply:Go to your doctor for a blood test. My husband's Aunt got pregnant twice while breastfeeding so she ended up with 3 boys all very close in age.
Reply:Just get rid of your ovaries. They don't do anything DO SOME RESEARCH.

I had a hysterectomy in 04 but they left my ovaries and fal. tubes and i have a lump on my right ovary. help?

I had a total hysterectomy in 2004 but they left my falopian tubes and ovaries and now i can feel a large lump in my right ovary. Im really scared because my family has a history of breast, colon, ovarian, and lung cancer. Can anyone with a REAL answer please help?

I had a hysterectomy in 04 but they left my ovaries and fal. tubes and i have a lump on my right ovary. help?
As one who has had a hyst, my MD also left and ovary in for hormones. However, 2 yrs later it had to be removed because of fibroid tumors that were really causing a lot of pain. I don't blame you in the least for being scared. My family has the same history. I had breast cancer one yr ago and a mastectomy. My sister had 4th stage ovarian cancer. Thanks to the wonderful doctors at Dana Farber, Chemo too, she is now completely clear of cancer. Yes, I would voice my concerns to your MD. I did when I found out I had cancer and I told him to please just take off my breast. It turns out, it was a good thing because the test came back as fast spreading cancer. So Please, speak with your doctor. Put you mind at ease. You are in my prayers for good health.
Reply:I have also had the same thing. If you think there is a cyst on one of the ovaries the only thing to do is see your physician. Get a ultra sound and a definitive diagnosis. I had a very large cyst removed from my ovary during my hysterectomy so having more is a possibility; that is why regular visits is imperative.
Reply:What's to ask? The lump may or may not be anything, but there's no way anyone can give you any help here. It would merely be speculation. For goodness sake, see a doctor.
Reply:i had that surgery in 1989 and the doctor left a tube and ovary and 14 yrs later they had to go back in and have surgery i was a lucky one cause i had a big tumor on my ovary it wasnt cancer go to a doctor and get it check out they found my thur a cat scan i say they will go in and do another surgery it wasnt as bad as the first one i had good luck to you dont forget to get it check out

Taking Clomid could I be pregnant or a cyst on ovary?

My doctor put me on 50mg of clomid to make me ovulate. I was really hoping to get pregnant this month. I started my period on 11/6/07 and now i'm having some pain in my lower abdomen on the left side and I was wondering if maybe this was a sign I could possibly be pregnant or if I could be developing a cyst on my ovary from the clomid. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Taking Clomid could I be pregnant or a cyst on ovary?
Sounds like ovulation pain. It would be beneficial to start charting if you are not already, that way you can see after a few cycles what is normal for your body. As soon as I get ovulation pain I started bd'ing every day until 2 days after ovulation. Good Luck :)
Reply:it could be either preg or cyst...contact a doc for a ultrasound.
Reply:I agree...sounds like ovulation. I started on 11/2 and started my first round of clomid 50mg on cd 3-7. Had an u/s and HCG trigger shot on 11/14. Follies were on left side. On 11/16 I had pain on my left side for just a few hours and thought it could be ov pain. I've been charting and according to my chart I did ovulate on the 16th which was cd 15. Good luck!!
Reply:Just sounds like you are ovulating. Good Luck

How dangerous is a cyst on your ovary or fibroids in your uterus?

can it stop you from having kids?

How dangerous is a cyst on your ovary or fibroids in your uterus?
I had a very large cyst that strangulated my ovary and when they went in to remove the cyst, they had to take the ovary too--it couldn't be saved.

However, my gyno told me that it didn't really impact my fertility or ability to have kids later. We're born with way more eggs than we'll ever need so losing one ovary doesn't mean I can't have kids.

He explained that what happened to me was essentially bad luck--nothing could have been done to prevent it and just because its happened once doesn't mean it'll happen again.

Most women have ovarian cysts and never even know it--they just go away by themselves without ever becoming painful or dangerous.

I hope that helps.
Reply:Sometimes cysts on the ovaries will go away on their own., then there are times when they need to be removed, but not all cysts can be surgically removed. There are times when the ovary must be removed because there can be several cysts on the ovary or they me like a cluster, and become strangulated. Fibroids are 99% non-cancerous and can cause painful cramping and flood-like periods. Depending on the woman's age, and size of the fibroids, a hysterectomy can be performed particularly if the woman does not desire children any longer. Fibroids most definitely can interfere with pregnancy.
Reply:I'd suggest you talk to your gynecologist for your specific situation, but yes....in the extreme, both of those conditions can cause infertility or the inability to carry a child. PCOS (Poly Cystic Ovarian Syndrome) can damage your eggs and tubes and severe fibroids can grow and take up valuable room in the uterus, as well as cause severe monthly cramping that may effect the ability to carry a child to term.

However, both of these issues are treatable if taken care of early.
Reply:I have no idea if it prevents you from having kids. But I will tell you that I know of a co-worker that has had a few cysts in her ovaries (not all at once of course). She has gotten treatments and has had them removed. Her mother and sister have the same issue, I assume it's hereditary. but that's all I know as far as cysts.

I have 1 ovary and i would like to know how that will effect menopause?

At age 23 i havd a tubal pregnancy and had one ovary removed. I am now 37 and i want to have another child but i am worried about menopause.

I have 1 ovary and i would like to know how that will effect menopause?
I also have 1 ovary and have been told it won't affect menopause at all. I had 2 kids after I had my ovary removed but I was under 30 when I did so.

You should see your OB/GYN to see when and how often you are releasing eggs. You one ovary may be compensating and releasing an egg every month or you could just ovulate every other month.

During menopause both ovaries stop producing hormones and eggs so having one shouldn't affect anything.
Reply:i don't know but would like to as i only have one myself
Reply:Why worry about it now. You have a while yet. There is help to get you through this when the time comes. The sweats are the worse. Every one is different, some women have no problems at all. So relax. Why worry about something you have no control over now.

Has anyone had a complex cyst on their ovary?

My daughter is 17 and has a complex cyst on her ovary. I haven't found much info on them. Any information is appreciated.

Has anyone had a complex cyst on their ovary?
My mom has always had issues with cysts on her ovaries. Last year she had a hysterectomy and oopherectomy to remove her ovaries because she had a cyst the size of a mandarin??? on her ovary. Talk to your doctor about Polycystic Ovarian syndrome. That's what might be wrong! Hope this helps!
Reply:I'm not sure what exactly a complex cyst is. My only experience with ovarian cysts led to emergency surgery in July '05. I went to the emergency room with extreme pain and found out that it was a cyst with a 13 cm diameter that was the problem. It had twisted both the ovary and the fallopian tube. I ended up losing that ovary.

It might not be the same thing, so make sure she follows any and all directions from her OB/GYN.
Reply:my first cyst was in side the ovary, thin in the next 13 years I had 6 more. None of them were cancer all had to be remove. After I had the first one I had a child at 22. and when it was all over they did a complete hysterectomy. Good luck. Some cyst do dissolve when you have a monthly cycle. I hope all goes well for her.

Is it a bad idea to get pregnant with a cyst on your ovary?

I was recently pregnant, But I lost it when I was 8 weeks. I had two cysts one on each ovary. But my Doctor said she feels it wasnt cause by the cysts. Could this be a wrong diagnosis???? I really want another baby, but im afraid to try with me still having the one cyst there.

Is it a bad idea to get pregnant with a cyst on your ovary?
No I do not think It would Be Bad.Especially Since The Doctor also said He dose not think It cause It to Happen.I say start trying when you are ready to start trying again cyst or no cyst.
Reply:wow i was in the same position last year. I fell pregnant last year in april and at my first scan they found a dermoid cyst i was told this was nothing to worry about but lost the baby at 10.5 weeks and was told this wasnt due to my cyst. I am now 21 weeks pregnant still with that same cyst that now measure over 6cm, i have been under specialist care and the cyst has shown no sign of being of any trouble to me or the baby, its up out of the way from my cervix and my baby, they said they would remove it once bub was born. So id say if you want to start trying again go for it...but let your doc know if he doesnt already and then might just keep and eye on you. My specialist also told me that she had a lady with for cysts on one ovary and has had 4 babies with it....If your cyst isnt causing you any pain or any harm id say go for it! Your miscarriage wouldnt of been due to you having a cyst.

If your cyst is a dermoid cyst its not cancerous its just hair and teeth cells........its sounds yuck but they arnt dangerous
Reply:hi, no i don't think its bad to fall pregnant with cysts on your ovaries. i have alot on both of mine and I've just recently had a baby boy. i miscarried 2 yrs ago when i was 8 weeks along and having cysts on your ovaries isn't the cause for the miscarriage. a miscarriage can be from a number of things and most times, its just your body and mother nature telling you, your not ready for a baby yet. that's how i look at it. also i can understand how afraid you are in case you loose your baby again, but Hun it does get better and you will carry through,i did. good luck and don't give up hope just yet.
Reply:I would say the only problem there really is that even if you get pregnant again you will still have a chance that you can have another miscarriage. If that's not the case, there's a possibility that you could also possibly die in labor. Is there a way you can get them removed?
Reply:i doubt the cyst made you lose the baby but i am no doctor. i know people who had children with out complactions and they had cycst. i am wishing u good luck. take care
Reply:A corpus luteum cyst on the ovary is normal in every pregnancy- in a few, they become painful, and can twist or rupture. Otherwise they are necessary to keep the pregnancy going. I don't know as much about other kinds of cysts, but if you're worried you should ask your doctor whether it might need to be removed. As far as I'm aware, though, cysts shouldn't affect the pregnancy at all unless they rupture and require surgery.
Reply:first sorry about the miscarriage

having cysts on the ovary wont affect the pregnancy, however can prevent pregnancy because of the scar tissue. when your pregnancy your ovaries are not active, so cysts on the ovary wont affact the pregnancy.

good luck for the future
Reply:My first pregnancy which ended at 11 weeks actually caused a big cysts on both my ovaries that stayed there even into my pregnancy now. (I believe they have gone down in size tho)I'm now 24 weeks no probs and the doctor said they will go away awhile after the pregnancy if not then thats a whole different thing. But in a nutshell unless of another reason you should still be able to get preggy again :) Good luck.

Is it possible to have a baby still if you have only one ovary and how long can it take with just one?

Had an ovary removed and was wondering what the chances i can still have kids. Has anyone lost one of there ovarys and gone on to have children and how long were you trying to get pregnant and did you need any assitant.

Is it possible to have a baby still if you have only one ovary and how long can it take with just one?
My friend was told her chances of having kids were very slim because she only had 1 ovary and it wasn't functioning properly, within a year of trying she was pregnant with twins and went on to have another 2, without and fertility treatment whatsoever, so it's worth trying. Never give up hope
Reply:I have only one and am TTC. My dr. doesn't think it will be a problem.
Reply:don't see why this should be a problem at all, may be it will take a little longer to conceive, good luck, relax and just let it happen.
Reply:the answer is yes, you only need one to become pregnant. talk to your gyn about ways to increase your chances if you are ttc.

one ovary shouldn't cause you to take longer to become pregnant but the reason you lost one ovary might. again, check with your gyn.
Reply:Hi i had an ectopic pregnancy last year and didnt lose a tube or ovary şit was repaired but i was so con cerned i talked to my gp who adviced me that lots of woman with one tube and ovary concieve so how can i have problems! And also i have heard so many woman who answered my question theyve also had ectopics and lost an ovary or tube and have gone on to have kids naturally your other ovary kicks in it may take longer but its possible i know so keep your chin up and goodluck
Reply:yeah its still possible, it might just take a little longer to get pregnant as you wont produce as many eggs.

Good luck
Reply:I read that statistically an 'average' (!) woman would get pregnant once every six months (if it didnt take nine to give birth) so I guess with only one ovary the average would go up to a year. So I wouldnt worry until youve been trying for at least a year with no result. Then maybe see the doc.
Reply:My mom had an ovary removed and was told by the Doc that she wouldn't have anymore kids. She had four more after that and got pregnant pretty soon after her surgery.
Reply:I don't know very much about this, but I do know that the average woman- when she goes through her cycles- she releases one egg from one side one month, then one egg from the other side the next month. I don't know what happens when you lose one though. Maybe your body will just know to produce an egg out of that side every month.
Reply:My mum had an ovary removed because of a cyst, and had me and my brother 16 months apart, shortly afterwards. You`d be surprised what Mother Nature can do even on half a facility!
Reply:my neighbour only has one ovary but got pregnant after 6 month off the pill which i think is a normal time scale for conceiving. but everything seemed to happen easily enough but they said they didnt have the attitude for trying to get pregnant just a hope and see if it happens kind of thing. Good luck
Reply:Yes it is possible, my mother conceived me with only one ovary. It may take longer to get pregnant, it may not, it depends what ovary that egg is (would've) been released from. You basically have a 50/50 chance.
