I think I should be tested for polycystic ovary syndrome?

I learned today about PCOS on the realage website where I read that it is the cause of a significant portion of obesity in women. When I looked into the disease I found I had a lot of the symptoms, such as irregular and heavy periods, weight gain around my middle, acne and dandruff, and constant pelvic pain. I think this is something I should get checked out, but many sites recommend seeing a specialist and my insurance will not cover that. What should I do? Does anyone know a site where I can find a specialist in my area (Denver)?

I think I should be tested for polycystic ovary syndrome?
Your regular doctor can help you out, although you really should see an endocrinologist. Will your insurance cover a specialist if you were referred by your regular doctor?

Is Anlene Mlik Effective for women who have undergone a surgery (removal of the ovary and uterus)?

Anlene Milk is milk with addetives some of which are dangerous:

I am not sure why you are asking about this milk, do you suffer from the operation? Hot flashes etc? This milk is not an answer to any symptoms.

My daughter had a sonogram and they could not find her left ovary what could that mean?

nothing. They couldn't find mine as well, but I had to have a surgery and it was there.

My daughter had a sonogram and they could not find her left ovary what could that mean?
...She has none.

No biggie, she still has a left one!

When you have a polycystic ovary is it true that you will have a difficulty in having a baby?

Yes, because most of the time you wont ovulate. Also miscarrages happen more often with women that have it. You can still have kids, but sometimes it can be difficult, but then again it you may have no problems.

When you have a polycystic ovary is it true that you will have a difficulty in having a baby?
My daughter at the age of 16 had cystic on both of her ovaries, so she was put on birth control pills for 2 years to dissolve them. Before the birth control pills she was cramping and was hurting allot. The birth control pills dissolved them and she was taken off of them. My daughter will be 26 next month and will be having my third grandchild. So, you might be like my daughter and have no difficulty in having a baby, but do check with a doctor on any gynecologist problem.
Reply:I had polycyctic ovaries. I dont menstruate for months. I am worried abt the same problem as yours... The cysts can turn pretty nasty - into fiberoids which could result in removal of ovaries - hysterectomy. Let me know if you find out some more information abt this.
Reply:No,not necessarily. You have two ovaries which both produce eggs.

This is a question that only a gynecologist/obstetrician can really answer knowledgeably and to your satisfaction though.
Reply:Yes it can cause problems. My wife had this same problem she had Lazar surgery after 5 years of marriage and trying to get pregnant, with no luck, but let me finish we gave up and talked about adoption it didn't work out ether so we figured we wasn't to have children.Well guess what happened..... Yep, after twelve years my wife says she thought she was with child, and took an ept which said + I didn't trust it I said I'll believe it if the bunny dies, it did .Then 5 years later she said she felt the same way again the bunny died again. Now we have two wonderful boys!!!! So what ever happens don't give up hope, anything can happen!! Good luck and God bless.
Reply:It is a good possibility. You should have your GYN evaluate you. With all the advances in medicine it is rarely ever impossible. It may be very hard though.
Reply:hi having polycystic ovaries and having a baby is not a prob unless u r slim if u r fat reduce ur weight which may help u in giving birth it is caused due to over consumption of fat and also due to thickening of the ovary walls so go to a gynaec. for treatment as soon as possible all the best for a gud result and one more thing u must eat lot of vegetables and truly saying a lot of citrus fruits

I am having laproscopic surgery to remove a tumor on my ovary will i spot or bleed afterwards?

Yes, you will bleed afterwards. It will lighten up as the days go by. I have had 3 laparoscopy surgeries (2 were for ectopic pregnancies), but all 3 resulted in heavy syrup-like bleeding immediately after surgery when I stood up. It really scared me, but the hospital staff assured me it was normal. It all depends on how well the doctor cleans you up inside. My first laparoscopy didn't bleed as bad because he suctioned out free flowing blood inside, but the last 2, they didn't, which resulted in more bleeding. Hopefully you won't have any bleeding, but do expect some spotting for a few days, like a period. Good luck and God Bless!!!

I am having laproscopic surgery to remove a tumor on my ovary will i spot or bleed afterwards?
It is normal to have some bleeding afterwards. Just bring some sanitary napkins to the hospital with you. They probably provide them but they are the cheap old fashioned bulky kind. Since what you are having done is non invasive to full abdominal surgery, the bleeding might be lighter. As always, it's best to take any concerns you have to your doctor.
Reply:You may spot or you may bleed more heavily, depending on whether they must take the whole ovary or just take the tumor off your ovary. Ask your doctor.
Reply:Probably.
Reply:It's possible, but, shouldn't last for long. a few days maybe. and then maybe you won't at all. ask the dr.

How serious is it when only one ovary can be found in a woman?

can it be corrected? or can she still have children. and finally what does clinical correlation means?

How serious is it when only one ovary can be found in a woman?
1) Having one ovary should have no bearing on fertility, providing the remaining ovary ovulates and its corresponding fallopian tube is not blocked or having any other issues. While two ovaries will alternate each month when there's two of them, if you lose one, the other one will take over the duties for both. The idea that a woman is only fertile every other month with one ovary is a myth.

2) Having one ovary cannot be "corrected". There's no such thing as an ovarian transplant.

3) Clinical correlation means how one medical condition may relate to another condition. For example: the clinical correlation between obesity and heart disease would be that obesity can lead to heart disease. Make sense?

Good luck.
Reply:I had to have an ovary taken out when I was younger, and went on to have a healthy baby girl. If you have one viable ovary and the tube on that side is intact, you ovulate and have a period every month. One ovary will take over for the missing one.
Reply:It is ok to only have one ovary, as long as you have one ovary you can still get pregnant. I only have one ovary and I ovulate every month still. When you only have one ovary your body adjusts and your one ovary will still produce the one egg a month.
Reply:You can still get pregnant with having one ovary...as long as it is a functioniong ovary...you my need to take fertility drugs to help it along.
Reply:not that serious

no it cannot be corrected

she can still have kidlets, she'll just only ovulatle every other month, so it will take twice as long
Reply:I do not believe there is a correction available or necessary for only one ovary. I am unaware of clinical correlation but I wanted to share that I have only one fallopian tube(due to an ectopic pregnancy) and I have gotten pregnant 4 times with only one tube. It may take longer to get pregnant but as long as the one ovary is still producing then she should be fine. I would sincerely suggest directing these questions at her care provider or her gynecologist for further and complete information.

Best wishes :)

What happens if you do not treat a cyst on your ovary?

Most functional ovarian cysts are harmless, do not cause symptoms, and go away without treatment. However, they can cause symptoms such as:

Lower abdominal pain or ache, typically in the middle of your menstrual cycle.

Menstrual period delay.

Weight gain.

Unexpected vaginal bleeding.

Some functional ovarian cysts can twist or rupture and bleed. Symptoms include:

Sudden severe pain, often with nausea and vomiting (possible sign of a twisted cyst).

Pain immediately after intercourse (possible sign of a ruptured cyst).

If you have symptoms that suggest a twisted or ruptured ovarian cyst, call your health professional immediately. Some ruptured cysts bleed enough that treatment is necessary to prevent heavy blood loss.

What happens if you do not treat a cyst on your ovary?
I know this from experience. If a cyst is not treated it can keep growing. In my case mine got so big that I had to have a hysterectomy. So please get treated for this.
Reply:It can get larger and/or burst, causing bleeding and a lot of pain.

What is the cause of polycystic ovaries? How to get rid of it?What does retroverted ovary means?

What is the cause of polycystic ovaries? How to get rid of it?What does retroverted ovary means?
No one knows the exact cause of PCOS.i don't think you can get rid of it. and i don't know waht a retroverted ovary is sorry
Reply:Ok well my sister has this and you can only get rid of it by having the cysts that are on your ovarys removed but i dont think that you can get rid of it all together. And it does make geting pregnate alot harder. And nothing really causes it its just the way your body did things every woman has cysts at some point but when they get real bad is when they say you have this condition. And im sorry i dont know what a retroverted ovary is i have never heard of that.
Reply:Shouldn't you be asking your doctor these questions? And if your doctor won't stick around to answer them, it's time to get a new one.

When a follicle has developed on your ovary, how long until ovulation happens?

It can take several days. I am taking injectible medications under the care of a specialist to help with ovulation. I start forming follicles around cd 5 and I usually have mature follicles by cd 12. This is with medications so it could take a little longer for a woman not on treatments. The follicle forms and then grows to maturity and then releases. I had an ultrasound done on cd 10 (after 5 days of treatments) and some follicles were around 14 mm (a few smaller ones too) and on cd 12 (after 2 more days of meds) I had some as large as 19 mm. 18-20 mm is considered mature. So it can take a few days. Best wishes!!!!!!!!!

When a follicle has developed on your ovary, how long until ovulation happens?
It can take several days after a follicle develops before it matures and releases an egg. The best indication of ovulation is to take an ovulation monitor. If you are under the care of an RE they can track follicle growth via ultrasound and once they release the egg, the follicle disappears therefore creating an assumption an egg has been released since an egg cannot be visualized via ultrasound.

If u have a cyst on your ovary would it make u have a more than normal discharge?

the discharge doesnt have a smell to it it usually is more smoother though but its white .

If u have a cyst on your ovary would it make u have a more than normal discharge?
no, they're very painful, so if you had one, you'd be in a lot of pain. your ovary isn't located inside your uterus or vagina, so it would not affect your discharge. you could have a yeast infection.
Reply:i had a cyst on my ovary which would cause me severe pain after intercourse.. i did notice a lil more discharge then normal
Reply:No, it wouldn't make any difference to the discharge.

When a woman has a cyst removed from an ovary, and other parts, how much of her sex drive is taken or hightened?

A close friend has an ovary with a cyst growing on one, this friend is worried and her partner is too that her sexual drive

will be deminished.does anyone know if this is true, or is basically decided by the woman and her hormonal level, mental attitude. support by friends and family, has anyone got conclusive facts on this situation

When a woman has a cyst removed from an ovary, and other parts, how much of her sex drive is taken or hightened?
I had a cysy removed before I was sexually active i was only 16...I'm now 21 and I never has a decrease in my sexual drive...if anything my boyfriend would tell you I want it more than I did then.. She will be fine, once her hormone leavel is under control. She will be fine, tell her not to stress about it. Good Luck,,,,she will feel oh so much better once its removed!!
Reply:I don't think having an ovarian cyst removed would make any difference to a woman's sex drive. Your friend should ask her doctors though and they will tell her.

I have an endometrioma in my left ovary. I have been trying to concieve for for a very long time.?

My doc says that I may have to have the endometrioma (or chocolate cyst) removed before I could concieve, Has anyone else had this diagnosis and what can you tell me about it?

I have an endometrioma in my left ovary. I have been trying to concieve for for a very long time.?
No but google it. I have had surgery on my ovaries for PCOS and it was fine and easy.
Reply:No, but below is a website that may help answer your question. Also, try talking to your doctor. Ask all the questions you need to ask him. Ask him what are your chances of conceiving while having endometriosis, and what other options you have. If your current doctor isn't giving you the answers you need, do your research and find one who will. Check out the website below, I hope it helps answers some of your concerns.

I have been having pain in my rt side(by my ovary) on and off since ovulation and slight cramping trying 4preg
If you are ovulating it's normal..

If late get a test

If pregnant call your doctor, might be an ectopic

If none of the above go for ultra sound, it might be a cyst

Good luck
Reply:i think it's too early to test now if you can bare the pain I mean not that sharp and it's from time to time guess it's ok..But if severe pain you should see a doctor...Best of luck

I have polycystic Ovary Syndrome and I was wondering if anyone else here has it and was successful at getting pregnant? I also have Herpes that I've only had one outbreak and HPV. Will all this affect getting pregnant?

Any women here that has Polycystic ovary syndrome?
Im 17 and all the sudden i gained 20lbs and my period stopped so i went to the doctors and she told me when i want to have a baby they just can give me some fertility drugs. She also said you still can get pregrant the normal way but the chances are possible but not that high. and the doctor also told me that theres a higher chance of miscarriges.
Reply:My daughter does. She suffered for years before getting diagnosed. Her symptoms were overweight, hairy in places she shouldn't be, failure to get pregnant, dark armpits, and severe PMS. I hope no one else suffers the way she did.

I am twelve weeks pregnant and can my left ovary area feels tender. Could the baby be resting over near ther?

or is it my uterus just stretching, but on one side? any ideas?

I am twelve weeks pregnant and can my left ovary area feels tender. Could the baby be resting over near ther?
The other thing it most likely is: "a corpus luteal cyst" or just your "corpus luteum" healing. Its the little sac that realeased your egg (now baby). Because your hormones are changing, your body may not process it as fast as if you weren't pregnant. It will most likely go away, but if the pain continues, I'd bring it up to your doc.

On the round ligament pain - it may a little early for that - round ligament pain usually settles in around 15wks.

Either way, get used to being a tad bit uncomfortable - between growing pains, loosening ligaments, the urge to pee, and hunger/cravings - you're going to be a bit uncomfortable for a while! (but it's the best kind :) )

Congrats and take good care of yourself.
Reply:The same thing happened to me. thats sharp stinging feeling right where your ovaries are. not fun. I'm 27 weeks and am geting it worse. probably because i ahve just now started to show finally and am stretching really fast. its a normal thing so dont worry. try some tylenol if it is really bad but also just switching positions helped for me. good luck and congrats.
Reply:hello!! im only 11 weeks but have that left side pain/discomfort all the time! its called round ligament pain and its totally normal....when it happens if you lay down on the side your feeling it ..it should take away some of the pressure from the streching!!

What is an syst on your ovary?

What is an syst on your ovary? What does it mean?

What is an syst on your ovary?
Abnormal bleeding and irregular periods can also be caused by an ovarian cyst. This is a scary diagnosis, but ovarian cysts are very common and are not cancerous conditions. Just like a breast cyst, which is a fluid-filled lump, these cysts form on the ovary. Often, ovarian cysts don't even require surgery and just need to be monitored. An ultrasound can tell your doctor whether the cysts are benign.

Follicular Cysts

During normal ovulation, the follicle spits out the egg. When the follicle fails to do this, fluid, hormones, and other "guck" build up inside the unruptured follicle until a cyst develops. This kind of ovarian cyst is most common in women who are between the ages of twenty and forty. Some women are plagued by follicular cysts, which may keep forming. The symptoms of follicular cysts are different from symptoms of ovarian cancer. They include delayed periods, bleeding between periods, pelvic pain (constant dull ache or sharp jabbing), and cramping, but often there are no symptoms. As mentioned above, a full pelvic exam is done first in investigating abnormal bleeding. Often, follicular cysts are found in a bimanual exam. If your ovary is enlarged by more than two inches, it will immediately be investigated. Your doctor will order a blood test to see how well your ovary is producing hormones. Then he or she will perform an ultrasound scan to see the size and composition of the ovary. Just like an ultrasound can determine fluid-filled lumps in breasts, it can also determine fluid-filled lumps on the ovaries. In the United States, sometimes a CAT scan or MRI is done as well. Follicular cysts are always benign.

The next step in treating follicular cysts depends on your age and the size of the cyst. If you're younger and the cyst is small, waiting it out may be the best course of action. However, since most follicular cysts resolve within one menstrual cycle, the first step is simply observation, eliminating the need for expensive tests and treatment. Most go away without rupturing, but these cysts may also rupture on their own. In either case, your menstrual cycle will get back in sync and return to normal. You'll then need to be re-evaluated. If you're under thirty, you can be re-evaluated in about two cycles (eight to ten weeks). If you're between the ages of thirty and forty, you should be re-evaluated after only one cycle (about four to six weeks).

If you are experiencing a lot of pain, are over forty, or have a solid enlargement of the ovary, you'll need to be treated immediately. If the cyst persists after a second evaluation, you'll also need to be treated.

Treatment involves a laparoscopy procedure, which will tell the doctor more about the texture and size of your cyst. Depending on what he or she finds, the cyst might be aspirated on the spot, at which point it will simply collapse and you'll be cured. But if the ovary is unusually large, the cyst is removed and your ovary biopsied via fine-needle aspiration. If no cancerous cells are found, once the cyst is removed, you'll also be cured.

Sometimes a condition known as polycystic ovary disease can occur where a woman has numerous follicular cysts, which can be treated. This is also a major cause of infertility.

Corpus Luteum Cysts

After your egg is spat out by the follicle, which then turns yellow and becomes the corpus luteum (an empty shell that produces progesterone), the follicle doesn't shrink like it's supposed to. Instead, the little blood vessels that feed the follicular sac and bleed during ovulation continue to bleed into the empty sac and form a blood-filled cyst. This sounds dangerous, but it isn't. Corpus luteum cysts will often rupture and resolve on their own. If not, the diagnosis and treatment route is the same as above, the blood is aspirated during laparoscopy, and the ovary biopsied. Sometimes, though, the ovary may be too large or the bleeding too severe. At this point, some doctors may opt to remove the ovary, but this is premature. The bleeding is caused by a stubborn blood vessel that can be tied off, which will stop the bleeding, allowing the cyst to be aspirated and the ovary to remain intact.

Dermoid Tumors

These are not cysts but common benign tumors (making up about 10 percent of benign ovarian tumors). Dermoid tumors are more common in young women but can occur throughout the reproductive years. Prepare yourself -- these are really disgusting! What happens here is that the egg begins developing without being fertilized. So these growths develop hair, teeth, cartilage, and fat. Even surgeons are shocked by their appearance. The symptoms and diagnosis process for these tumors are the same as above, and an ultrasound test or even an X ray can pinpoint dermoid tumors. Teeth (!) often show up in the scans or X rays.

Many surgeons will do laparoscopic surgery to remove the tumor and leave the ovary intact. Unfortunately, some doctors will just remove the ovary altogether. Because dermoid tumors can be removed, leaving the ovaries intact, your best bet is to seek out a doctor who will not remove the ovary. If you can't find one, call HERS, an organization that has lists of surgeons who perform alternative surgery to hysterectomy and oophorectomy.
Reply:First, if you're trying to look up info online, it's spelled "cyst."

Ovarian cysts are quite common. It's a fluid-filled sac on your ovary, kind of like a blister. It's NOT cancer, if that's what you're worried about. They're generally harmless and may not even lead to any symptoms, before just going away on their own.

Generally they're not a big deal, but questions about your specific case should be directed to your doctor.
Reply:An ovarian cyst is any collection of fluid, surrounded by a very thin wall, within an ovary.

Any ovarian follicle that is larger than about two centimeters is termed an ovarian cyst.

Most cysts are harmless, but some cause problems such as bleeding and pain, and surgery may be required to remove those cysts. An ovarian cyst can be as small as a pea or as large as a grapefruit.

Ovarian cysts affect women of all ages. Cysts occur most often, however, during a woman's childbearing years.

Symptoms

Some or all of the following symptoms may be present, though it is possible not to experience any symptoms:

Dull aching, or severe, sudden, and sharp pain or discomfort in the lower abdomen (one or both sides), pelvis, vagina, lower back, or thighs; pain may be constant or intermittent -- this is the most common symptom

Fullness, heaviness, pressure, swelling, or bloating in the abdomen

Breast tenderness

Pain during or immediately after sexual intercourse (dyspareunia), masturbation, strenuous exercise, or menstrual period (or shortly after beginning or end of menstrual period)

Irregular periods, or abnormal uterine bleeding or spotting

Change in frequency or ease of urination (such as inability to fully empty the bladder), or difficulty with bowel movements due to pressure on adjacent pelvic anatomy

Weight gain

Nausea or vomiting

Fatigue

Infertility

Increased level of testosterone or hair growth

Increased facial hair or body hair

Treatment

About 95% of ovarian cysts are benign, meaning they are not cancerous.

Treatment for cysts depends on the size of the cyst and symptoms. For small, asymptomatic cysts, the wait and see approach with regular check-ups will most likely be recommended.

I'm having a sever Stabbing pain in my left Ovary. What can I do?

Okay I have a feminine question. I started my period about a week early no big deal. My periods are pretty abnormal as far as schedule goes. And I normally cramp really bad my first day . But this time I’m not having cramps. I’m having this sever pain.( I’ve doubled over and almost dropped to my knees a few times today cause of it) The pain feels like someone is taking a knife and stabbing me. Threw my stomach into my left ovary and into my lower back. I’m not bleeding very hard however. Any one have any suggestions on what I can do about the pain? Or what could be causing it? It’s just new kind of hurt to me. Thanks for your time.

I'm having a sever Stabbing pain in my left Ovary. What can I do?
I suggest speaking with your doctor, only you know what is normal and not normal for your body.
Reply:The pain your feeling could be something as simple as you are ovulating. However it should not be something that would drop you to your knees. When you ovulate you may feel a little pain - almost like a pinch. Sounds like there is something more serious going on and you need to see a doctor.
Reply:The same thing happened to one of my friends and she had a cyst on one of her ovaries. Contact a doctor or go to the emergency room ASAP!!
Reply:You should be checked medically for an ovarian cyst.
Reply:you should go to the doctor my mom had surgery for it so you so go to the doctor right away or right when you feel worse pain

My Mom has a tumor on her ovary? How bad is it?

She already went to the doctor.. it's 4cm ...they told her she might need a surgery....

from 1 to 10 ..how bad is it? ...I'm really scared... she just had a surgery not long ago...

if you anything of this.. please let me know... im really afraid that it's something very serious :(

My Mom has a tumor on her ovary? How bad is it?
The treatment depends on the type and stage of the tumour. Surgery is usually the first and preferred method of treatment. This includes removal of the ovaries (oophorectomy), the fallopian tubes (salpingectomy), the cervix and the uterus (hysterectomy).

Chemotherapy is the destruction of the cancerous cells with the help of drugs and special medications. Most drugs used to treat cancer are given intravenously. The common drugs are taxol, taxatere, cisplatin and paraplatin. Radiation therapy involves the use of high energy rays to kill the cancerous cells. However, it is not the preferred method of treatment since it's effect is localised and the cancer may have spread through the blood stream.

There may be many side effects depending on the form of treatment followed and the stage of the disease.

After surgery a person may experience pain and tenderness in the operated region. Since after the removal of the ovaries, the woman loses her ability to reproduce and menopause occurs, she may experience feelings of loss and incapacity. The physical symptoms associated with menopause, like vaginal dryness and hot flashes may be seen in some women.

Women undergoing chemotherapy may lose their hair in addition to the usual side effects of treatment, which are nausea, vomiting, weight loss, loss of appetite, fatigue and mood swings. Patients undergoing chemotherapy may be given extra fluids intravenously to prevent kidney damage.
Reply:My sister has a cyst on her ovary and I believe it's about 5 centimeters big. Because it is so big she will have to have it surgically removed. In her case it's not really that big of a deal. She was even able to have a baby while she had it.

I would think your mom would be fine unless the tumor is cancerous. It's pretty normal for women to have growths on their ovaries.
Reply:if the doctor isnt rushing her in for surgery this week then its not serious and likely not cancerous.
Reply:If it is a fibroid tumor, it is usually not serious.

cyst removed should not be an obstacle to a great sex life. it all depends on an attitude. you can look at it as at any other medical intervention, it has nothing to do with sex drive.

I am 2 weeks pregnant and have a cyst on my right ovary, could this cause spotting or bleeding?

My doctor said the cyst was the cause of the cramps on the right side of my stomach. She also said that the cyst was a good thing giving the baby extra nutrients. And that everything else is good, but we cant figure out whats causing me to bleed or "spot". Does anyone have any experience with this? She said baby is growing as it should, and I have another doctors app this afternoon. If you have any experience or know someone who has, I would love some insight. Thanks!

I am 2 weeks pregnant and have a cyst on my right ovary, could this cause spotting or bleeding?
Well, I had some spotting in the beginning of both my full term pregnancies. Take it real easy and listen to your dr. You got a long way to go yet! Good luck and congrats!
Reply:It's normal to spot a little at the very beginning of pregancy, its called break through bleeding maybe that's it, especially since you found out SO early that you are pregnat its rare that anyone finds out this early, most people don't know until they are about 5 or 6 weeks, so I would think that the 2 week stage would be about the time that breakthrough bleeding would occur, but hopefully your doctor will be able to give you more information. Good Luck!
Reply:I had my left ovary removed at 4.5 months pregnant. It never caused any spotting though. I did have horrible cramps until it was gone though. It was a simple surgery and the baby was and still is fine. She is 6 now. So, it is not a bad thing. Some spotting is normal. With this pregnancy (it is my 3rd, i have a 6 year old, had a miscarriage, and am 19 weekss now), I had a little spotting. ANd that was about 2-3 months ago. I am sure it is nothing.
Reply:I am 30 weeks today. This happened to me early in my pregnancy, they even did a test to see if I was loosing the baby.

All I can tell you is, I know it's hard, but DON'T WORRY. Getting a cyst is prefectly normal and it goes away on it's own. Your doctor isn't concerned because it's nothing to be concerned about so don't you worry! They'll prob do another sono to see if it's still there in a few weeks. I had to get an internal sono to see. They are normal and DO go away. Enjoy your pregnancy!
Reply:I am pregnant with a cyst on my left ovary. was this way witht he last pregnancy too. I never spotted, but it may cause some cramping. Doc doesnt know why your spotting? hmmm... i dont know what elseto say, but maybe it is the cyst. good luck.
Reply:i had a cyst on my ovary the same weaks pregnant and i think yours may have popped cause i started spotting and thats why you may have had a smaller one they might not have seen while they found the other one
Reply:yes
Reply:First congrats on your pregnancy! I have had an ovarian cyst and it was so painful. The cyst usually goes away after your cycle but now that you're pregnant i'm not sure if it will be absorbed or not. My cyst actually burst and it can cause some spotting but I would definitely get a second opinion!

I had 1 ovary removed because of ovarian cancer and was told by my OB/GYN that the other ovary would take over all the functions and it would be just as if I still had 2. This has turned out to be true. I get my period every month and I was able to get pregnant.
Reply:If you're concerned about conceiving, I think it does a bit.

My mother was 21 years old when she had to have an ovary removed. She also had cysts constantly that had to be popped off of her healthy ovary. She was told never to expect to have children. After 11 years of marriage and never using birth control, she conceived my brother and 10 months after his birth, I was on the way.

Everyone's body is different, but the body is an amazing thing and can compensate. Talk to your doctor. I know they can now run tests to find out how many eggs you're producing and you're likely hood of getting pregnant.

Good luck!!!
Reply:No...you can still become pregnant .

Can a cits on your ovary that's leaking cause any trouble with a pregnancy?

When I went in for an 8 week ultrasound, The tech asked me if I had been in any pain on my right side. Well, no-but I had a cyst rupture on my ovary. My ob told me it's fine because whatever fluid is coming out is simply reabsorbed by your body. Don't stress if you're not in any pain.

Can a cits on your ovary that's leaking cause any trouble with a pregnancy?
I think you mean cyst!! I had a cyst on my left ovary when I was pregnant with my first daughter. It was spotted when I had a scan at 5weeks because I was bleeding but by the 12weeks scan it had gone. It didn't cause any problems and normally the medical staff with just keep an eye on it.
Reply:That's too important a question to ask here. See your gynecologist, please.
Reply:Make sure the cyst is monitored. However, since your child is enclosed in an embryonic sac, any leaking fluid shouldn't affect the baby. A doctor might have a different opinion, though. Be sure to ask at your next prenatal visit.
Reply:Not sure, you might want to have your ob/gyn take a look and test the fluid.
Reply:i had an ovarian cyst that ruptured a few years back and the doc told me that it MAY affect me getting pregnant. However i have a 7 month old son and am preggo again, so i dunno. I have heard that it ccan cause it to be harder to get preggo but not in my case.
Reply:yes they can you need to see a docter first and all.to make sure there are none and to ask when is the safest time to get pregnant and all i dont thiknk it would hurt the baby i think you would be in more pain though if youexperience one

What is ovary cysts and the complications for it?

Ovarian cysts cause your periods to be irregular and it's also near impossible to get pregnant. This herb was recommended by a lady at my local health food store.

http://www.susunweed.com/Article_Vitex_R...

I had very heavy periods I never knew when I was going to have one, they were so wacky. Within a month of taking Vitex, I was back on schedule , hardly no cramping and lighter periods. Also after 15 years I finally got pregnant with my daughter only after a few months of taking Vitex. When I went for my first ultrasound they couldn't find any cysts on my ovaries. I continued to take them after my daughter was born because the cysts will grow back if you don't. Doctor's really hate natural remedies because that takes away from the $20,000 surgery it would have took to get the cysts surgically removed and they will grow back even after all that money is spent.

Good Luck %26amp; God Bless =)

What is ovary cysts and the complications for it?
I get mine from GNC. If you have a local heallth food store they should carry it, if not they can get it for you. It's called Vitex,or,Chaste berry or chaste tree fruit (which is the name of the actual herb). Also, just type Vitex or Chaste berry in your search.

Good Luck =) Report It

Reply:i just know that it could cause cancer, and its hard to have a baby once you have it.
Reply:A cyst is a fluid-filled sac. and can be found anywhere on the body.

Reply:Ovarian cysts are fluid-filled, sac-like structures within an ovary. The term cyst refers to a fluid-filled structure. Therefore, all ovarian cysts contain at least some fluid.

Symptoms:

Most cysts are never noticed and resolve without women ever realizing that they are there. When a cyst causes symptoms, pain in the belly or pelvis is by far the most common one. The pain can be caused from rupture of the cyst, rapid growth and stretching, bleeding into the cyst, or twisting of the cyst around its blood supply
Reply:An ovarian cyst is a fluid-filled sac usually found on the surface of an ovary. There are many types of ovarian cysts, each with a different underlying cause. Many women will have them at some point during their childbearing years. Most are completely without symptoms. However, some types can cause serious health problems.

Most are harmless "functional” or "physiologic" cysts. Between 4% and 10% of women of childbearing age develop a potentially serious metabolic dysfunction, known as polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Multiple cysts are one hallmark of PCOS. PCOS also includes hormonal disruptions that can result in persistent acne, excessive body hair, thinning scalp hair, infertility, obesity, and increased risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and uterine or breast cancer.

Ovarian cysts can cause discomfort during intercourse. They may bleed, rupture, or twist the ovary, causing significant pelvic pain. Sudden or severe pelvic pain, especially with vomiting or a fever, should be treated as a medical emergency.

Some ovarian cysts can become cancerous. These are all rare cancers and are most common in women in their fifties. Cancerous ovaries are usually not painful unless they grow very large before they are discovered. Annual pelvic exams are the best preventative method for detecting gynecologic cancers in the early, most treatable stages.

It’s not easy to know whether you have ovarian cysts. You can have cysts without any symptoms at all, or you may have vague abdominal symptoms that could suggest a number of health problems that are completely unrelated to ovarian cysts.

Some abdominal conditions with symptoms similar to painful ovarian cysts are appendicitis, diverticulitis, intestinal inflammation or obstruction, gall bladder disease, kidney stone, or bladder infection. Gyneacologic problems with symptoms similar to ovarian cysts are pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis, ectopic or tubal pregnancy, or mittleschmirtz, the pain some women feel at mid-cycle, after normal ovulation.

In general, one or more of the following symptoms could be related to ovarian cysts:

- Menstrual irregularities.

- Pelvic pain – a dull ache, either constant or intermittent, possibly radiating to the low back or thighs.

- Pelvic pain during intercourse.

- Pelvic pain just before your period begins or just after it ends.

- A fullness or heaviness in your abdomen.

- Feeling of pressure on your bladder or rectum.

- Nausea or breast tenderness similar to when you’re pregnant.

- Continuous, creamy or clear-like-eggwhite vaginal discharge that persists unchanged for a month or more.

Any of these symptoms are sufficient cause to consult with your doctor.

If you have sudden, severe or spasmodic pain in your lower abdomen, especially if accompanied by fever, vomiting, or signs of shock (cold, clammy skin, rapid breathing, weakness), go immediately to the emergency room of the nearest hospital.

Hope this helped answer your question. Good luck :)

In a flower how would you describe the ovules attached to the ovary?

"In flowering plants, the ovule is located within the actual flower, the part of the carpel known as the ovary, which ultimately becomes the fruit. The ovule is attached to the placental wall of the ovary through a structure known as the funiculus, the plant equivalent of an umbilical cord. Different patters of ovule attachment, or placentation, can be found among plants: In parietal placentation, the ovules are attached to the outer ovary wall, whereas in free central placentation, they are attached to a central column within the ovary. In axile placentation, they are attached to radial spokes within the ovary."

The guy is a girl.lol

He isn't truly a guy. He had somewhat of an unfinished sex change. Almost just a bearded pregnant lady. His wife must have a screw loose and I feel sorry for the baby already.

During my doctor exam, she found that my right ovary is enlarged?

im 32 years old and having bloating, nausa, feeling tired all the time.i lost some weight also.everyone keeps saying im to young for cancer is this true, should i be concerned?i already had a hysterectomy in 2004,due to prolapse of uterus and cervical dysplasia[they said]so am i right to worry or not?

During my doctor exam, she found that my right ovary is enlarged?
You are definitely right to be concerned about the symptoms you are having. As for the enlarged ovary it could be a number of things causing this but I would recommend getting back in touch with your doctor to ask her to explain more about what this finding of an enlarged ovary means.

My right ovary is bigger than the left. do i have to get a surgery or tablets can help it?

it is bulky, and central and its nearing above normal limit.

My right ovary is bigger than the left. do i have to get a surgery or tablets can help it?
I'm guessing you know it's bigger because it's causing you pain and you've already seen a dr. Have they determined why it's bigger, such as a cyst growth? If that's the case they may remove it. I don't know of any pill you can take to reduce the size of an ovary.

best of luck

Can you die from an assist on an ovary?

my really good friend from school just found out that she has an assist on one of her ovaries and i am really worried about it. i'm kinda afraid to talk to her about it because we are really good friends and i don't want to lose her. please tell me if you can or not, i am really upset :'(.

if its nothing big and everything can get better will she be able to have children when she gets older?

Can you die from an assist on an ovary?
It's a cyst, and it's very common.

Most ovarian cysts in women of childbearing age are follicular cysts (functional cysts) that disappear naturally in 1-3 months. Although they can rupture (usually without ill effects), they rarely cause symptoms. They are benign and have no real medical consequence. They may be diagnosed coincidentally during a pelvic examination in women who do not have any related symptoms. All women have follicular cysts at some point that generally go unnoticed.

You can read about it here: http://women.webmd.com/Women-Medical-Ref...
Reply:First of all, its a cyst and not assist. And no, you dont die from that. It just needs to get removed by surgery before she wants to have kids.
Reply:Listen to Rad Tech, I'm an RN, and that is an awesome answer. I imagine the resource provided is good too.

Cheers, Adventureboy7
Reply:Ask her what kind of cyst it is. If it's a dermoid cyst it will not go away on it's own and she will need to have it surgically removed. It should not affect her future fertility.
Reply:To start it's a CYST on the ovary and very rarely can they cause death. They are most often left on the "wait and see" approach because most often they are just reabsorbed back into the body.
Reply:A cyst is a fluid-filled sac. In most cases a cyst on the ovary does no harm and goes away by itself. Most women have them sometime during their lives. Cysts are rarely cancerous in women under 50. Cysts sometimes hurt - but not always. Often, a woman finds out about a cyst when she has a pelvic exam.

If you're in your childbearing years or past menopause, have no symptoms, and have a fluid-filled cyst, you may choose to monitor the cyst. You may need surgery if you have pain, are past menopause or if the cyst does not go away. Birth control pills can help prevent new cysts.

A health problem that may involve ovarian cysts is polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Women with PCOS can have high levels of male hormones, irregular or no periods and small ovarian cysts.

If you have a cyst on you ovary's dost it heart down low to the side?

Like sharp stabs towerd you pelvis but alttal to the left?

If you have a cyst on you ovary's dost it heart down low to the side?
It does sound likely. Especially the area of pain. Certainly take over the counter pain killers as you need them. If the pain increases suddenly go to the ER as they can twist which is dangerous-but also rupture which is a good thing-go figure! Over the last 8 weeks i have had 2 on my left ovary and 4 on the right-after no history. Both times i had trans vaginal ultrasounds-sound much worse than they are. The pain became too much and had them drained. The first under lacroscopic surgery. Home a few hours later feeling much improved. And second time drained under ultrasound guidance-not fun but no GA. But home soon after.

It is worrying but is most likely to be a 'simple' cyst' which is just fluid. They are sure to do an ultrasound which will make the picture much clearer. Keep positive and take painkillers. Good luck.
Reply:Yes I have had one, and yes it did hurt every month. Mine dissolved after he put me on a low does of the pill....I just had one removed from my uterus last week, and it was done out patient with no problem..

I can relate it is scary and. that wait doesn't help one bit. It is very common and I am not a Dr. but you will be fine. try to think of other things go do something that you enjoy to help ease your mind I know not too easy to do

But Monday is just a few days away
Reply:I see, thou dost heart down low, dost thou? It could well be an ovarian cyst. I dost recommend a pelvic ultrasound be done, and if normal, begone with ye.
Reply:I have had ovarian cysts before with pelvic pain. The gyne dr sent me for a pelvic ultrasound. They may put you on birth control pills to shrink the cyst.
Reply:It is pretty low as you mention. I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, which causes me to have ovarian cysts. Since you have 2 ovaries, one on left and one on right, it can be either or both. The pain can be minimal to severe depending on the location and size of cyst. I've had cysts and didn't even have pain, so it really varies. I would contact your physician or OBGYN to be checked out. Best of luck to you!
Reply:IT Could be... but it could also be other things. What part of your cycle are you in. Some women experience cramping and sharp pains when they actually ovulate. Do you have a fever? How long has this been happening?? When was your last Bowel movement?? Do you have diarrhea? Are you on your period? Could you be pregnant? IT might be an ectopic pregnancy.. if it is not relived by taking a couple tylenol I would call dr

I had my left ovary and a cyst removed, will i catch easy?

I had my left ovary and a cyst removed 2 years ago, i have also had bad smears but the last one came back ok (thank god, it kills when you have a loop!) Do you think i'll catch easy? We're lookin at startin a family in Sept' this year. Anyone else had a baby with one ovary?

I had my left ovary and a cyst removed, will i catch easy?
well no but i was diagnosed with polycystic ovaries in nov 2003,i was told i had a 3% chance of falling pregnant which crushed me,

i so wanted a baby and by march 2004 i was pregnant,it just happened naturally,i couldn't believe it happened so fast let alone happened at all,so i say anything can happen if you want it bad enough,i think it's possible with one ovary.

i also think the secret to falling pregnant is spontaneous sex,no planning,no tension,no sex on a certain day or at a certain time, just relaxed fun sex.

i believe thats how my daughter was conceived,

because i had stopped planning her and put the whole pregnancy thing out of my head.

i hope you get your wish, and that everything works out for you. x
Reply:I had several.

I tell them all they are gifts from God.
Reply:yes there are alot of woman i know that conceived more than once and had healthy kids when they only had one ovary or with just one fallopian tube.

If you have trouble contact this great doctor Dr. Richard Levin

His website is http://www.babies-by-levin.com

Also if you want to know when you will be fertile and ovulating by just putting in your period info go to http://www.mymonthlycycles.com

good luck to you
Reply:Will I catch easy? I'm not sure what that means?

Do you mean, will you get pregnant easily?

If the answer is yes, then you may or may not have trouble getting pregnant. My sister-in-law had only one ovary, and she had two children (less than 2 years apart!). I can't say what your body will do. Hopefully, you won't have any trouble.
Reply:Many women have had children with only one ovary, don't lose hope. It may take a little longer, but as long as you're healthy and have no other problems, only having one ovary won't stop you.

You really should discuss this with your doctor though. He/she is much better equipped to answer any questions you may have.
Reply:im not sure but good luck hope it goes well and enjoy trying
Reply:yes my niece has had two children with only one overy, good luck,
Reply:honey, ive had 4 kids with one ovary when i was 16 i had my right ovay removed from a cyst that was the size of a grapefriut and i was worried but, i have 4 beautifu kids realx u should be fine
Reply:My mom had one of her tubes and ovaries removed when she was actually pregnant with my sister (3 mos. pregnant) and didn't cause her to become infertile. She had me and my brother several years later. :)

Also, I had a LEEP conization and was terrified when I became pregnant. I thought my cervix would be too weak to hold the weight of a baby, but I've carried two babies to term, and never had any problems with that.
Reply:My wife has only part of ther right ovary. She used the pill since she was twelve(for her endometriosis). Lost her left ovary and part of her right. Used Lupron treatment and the depo-shot. Dr said she had to undergo fertility treatment to have her babies.

Well, she was pregnant without the treatment and after only 4 months of leaving the depo-shot.

So don't worry, you could be surprised! Think positive and enjoy!
Reply:I think when you've only got one ovary it means you only ovulate every other month. It might be a little more difficult for you to get pregnant because of this. Check with your doctor and see if there are any ways you can figure out when you're ovulating, and you can try during these times. Might make your chances better. Good luck.
Reply:If the one ovary you have is healthy, then there would be little if any reduction in the likelihood of your becoming pregnant. In women who have two ovaries, the ovaries generally take turns producing an egg. If you only have one ovary and it is healthy, then it will take over for the missing ovary and produce an egg each month.
Reply:I know alot of people who have had babies with one ovary. Just dont get discouraged! Remember you have to work up to twice as hard as everyone else lol. But seriously it happens all the time. Try one of those electronic things that tracks your cycle so you know what days are best for you to try having a baby! Good Luck to ya!!!!
Reply:The right ovary will compensate for the loss of the left, conceiving should not be a problem. Gynae Sister

iv been experiencing a slight but Discomforting pain in my right ovary for the past 5 days now, it feels like a period pain but i came off about 7 days ago. I also feel sick. can anyone help?

I have a pain in my right ovary?
please see a doctor, i believe they are in a better position to advice. it could be something serious if left untreated.
Reply:It may be something else. Like appendicitis, although that does not usually last for 5 days. How bad is the pain? Try pressing on where it hurts. If it doesnt hurt when you apply pressure but it does alot when you take it off, then you should go to the ER asap.
Reply:Hmmm...I do to....

you might have a cyst on your ovary. You (and I!) should get it checked out. Good luck!
Reply:you need to go to the doctors, you might have a cyst - this girl i know had one and had to have it drained.

If I have polycystic ovary syndrome is it possible for me to be pregnant?

Yes it is definitely possible. Especially if you have been watching your diet and keeping your symptoms in check or taking medication for it.

I have PCOS as well and I was told that it was very unlikely I'd ever conceive but I am now 14 weeks pregnant so I know for certain it can happen.

Depending on the severity of your PCOS it can put you at higher risk for miscarriage and/or other problems but as long as you are careful and follow Dr's orders, there's no reason why you can't have a healthy pregnancy.

If I have polycystic ovary syndrome is it possible for me to be pregnant?

Reply:Oh yes, it is. I hope that is good news for you. That's the odd thing about PCOS (I have it too) -- my doctor told me that you can have it with variable severity. I know one woman that has three beautiful naturally conceinved children and also has PCOS. I have a college friend that has PCOS and also conceived naturally and now has an almost one-year old. Me personally, never did have any luck. But yes, it is possible, in some cases. Good luck to you!

Sometimes when I have sex, it hurts and it is hard to be penetrated. is it because i have a cyst on my ovary?

I had a pap smear just recently and my doctor said that everything was okay but I didnt ask about this. I figured they would tell me if anything was wrong.

Sometimes when I have sex, it hurts and it is hard to be penetrated. is it because i have a cyst on my ovary?
First, It isnt your ovary, they dont get bother during sexual intercourse. And your doctor would not lie to you because they can get sued for a lot of money if they would and you found out. I wouldnt worry about that, and I would say tone down on the sex, consult your doctor, most likely let what ever it was you had heal. Good luck
Reply:Do some investigating on symptoms. Use yahoo. Just type in ovarian cysts. There should be a good website on how to indicate if you have ovarian cysts. Tell your physican or get a second opinion from another person in the health care profession. Its good to do some digging and find out and you will be at ease.
Reply:well first of all just cause u go to a doctor dont mean they find everythin a cyst isnt normaly seen in a pap smear , u should have told your doctor about this or anyother syptoms u may have , after all a doctor normaly only looks for what bugs a patient unless age and yearly exam , so alway no matter how strange it may be bring any pain or questions u have to the attention of your doctor, sometimes the pain can be an effection that u may be unaware of, another thing you may be to dry this can cause pain u may want to try a lubicant like ky jellly or someting , but call your doctor in the mean time and schedule and appointment and bring this to your doc attention the sooner the better
Reply:Yes, it can cause pain during sex.
Reply:You may want to call them back and ask about this. It sounds kinda serious.
Reply:If you got the okay, it could be anything from cysts they missed, or an STD, or anything. You should see your Dr. He/She may order an internal ultrasound to rule out some things, and some STD tests. Good luck!
Reply:Sometimes these things can develop suddenly...if I were you, I would schedule another appointment w/my doc. Better safe than sorry.
Reply:Pap smears do NOT have anything to do anything with your ovaries.

When you have sex, THAT has nothing to do with your ovaries. (unless you are trying to get prgnant... but that is in a different line of questions...)

Having pain while having sex has nothing to do with your ovaries.

Being hard to penetrate has nothing to do with your ovaries.

Having cysts on your ovaries, in lots of cases, are painless.

A Pap Smear is performed as part of a gynecological exam.

A sample of cells from the outside and the canal of the cervix is taken by gently scraping the outside of the cervix with a wooden or plastic spatula, then inserting a small brush that looks like a pipe cleaner into the canal.

The cells are placed on a glass slide and sprayed with a fixative, or put in a bottle containing a preservative, then sent to the lab for examination.

When the test results came back from your doctor, and he said everything was okay, it meant that there was no sign of cancer. The Pap smear can detect cancerous or precancerous conditions of the cervix.
Reply:no...they may not help you unless you ask...I have cysts and I experience the same things as you....talk to the doctor...because everytime one ruptures it is a layer of scar tissue which can cause fertility problems....seriously talk to your dr.
Reply:Are you comfortable with the situation? Tension doesn't help. I found that making sure my bladder was empty helped. Maybe even start the moment with a relaxing shared bath/shower might help. Good luck but do talk to your doctor about this/

Can having a large painful cyst on your ovary contribute to weight gain?

Ok dont listen to teh person talking about cancer. The only reason you should worry about cancer is if the cyst is abnormal! Im having problems with a cyst now. Most are functional cyst.Infact i just went into my GYN this morning and have tons of info on them.

1.Functional Cyst : Most common type of ovarian cyst.Developes from tissue that changes in the normal cycle of ovualtion. There are two types of functional cyst. Both usually have no symptoms or minor ones when they occur..Usually disapear 6-8 weeks.

2.Dermoid Cyst : Made up from different kinds of tissue from other parts of the body.Such as skin, hair, fat and teeth. Are small and may not cause signs unless they become large.

3 : Cystadenomas Cysts that develope from cells on the outer surface of the ovary. They are usually benign but can grow very large and cause pain.

4 : Endometriomas : Are cysts that form when endometrail tissue grows on the ovaries. Are filled with blood and "bleeds" monthly. Also known as a chocolate cyst.

A cyst can effect horomones and can cause weight gain. Also if you think about it with the pain you dont usually excerize as often or at all.If you want anymore info at all just email me znmcookz@yahoo.com . Hope this helped some

Can having a large painful cyst on your ovary contribute to weight gain?
I dont believe so. I've had 3...and it didnt affect my weight at all.
Reply:yes, get it removed.
Reply:Yep. It messes with your hormones.
Reply:I would think it can mess with your hormones, which definitely can contribute to weight gain.
Reply:You better have a doctor do something about it soon.

It could be cancer.

All women will get fat sooner of later, they just love to have somethign to blame on.
Reply:Well, not exactly. The fact that you have a cyst could mean that you have ovarian cystic syndrome, which can cause weight gain. When you have OCS, your hormones are not at the levels they are supposed to be, this can cause weight gain. You need to make an appointment with a gyno and have them test your hormone levels in your blood. This can be fixed rather simply by birth control if you do indeed have OCS. It is important that you do this ASAP because leaving OCS untreated can lead to infertility.

Has any one had laprscopic surgery done to remove a tumor on the ovary.?

i am having it done on april 23rd and im really scared .

Has any one had laprscopic surgery done to remove a tumor on the ovary.?
nothing to be afraid of you'll be fine and yes i have but i had the ovary removed altogether

I had an ophrectomy (ovary surgery) 2 years ago and I have a regular period, Can I conceive a child?

My understanding (but I could be wrong) is that an oophorectomy is surgery to remove an entire ovary and in some cases just a portion of one. If you have removed both ovaries then you would not be able to conceive a child naturally - there is no place for the eggs to grow and be released. If you only had one removed or if you only had part of one removed and still have a functional ovary on the other side then you may be able to have a child.

Without ovaries, your only option for child birth is to use IVF and an egg donor.

You should visit a fertility specialist and go through some testing.

Best wishes!

Do you know anyone who got pregnant after having had a unilateral oophorectomy (removal of one ovary)?

If so, how old was she? And did she require IVF?

I only have 1 ovary and 1 fallopian tube. I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer in Jan. 2001 and I have 2 little boys. I was 24 years old at the time, and I refused chemo and radiation. I was on fertility drugs to conceive my first boy ( 4 years old) and my baby ( 27 days old) was conceived au natural. It can happen! Good luck!
Reply:my mom had one ovary removed and had me at 32 on accident... and that was a long time ago. also had multiple miscarriages (4-5 between her 3 live births)

Diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), what are my chances of being able to concieve?

Never had menstral cycle naturally. I am a 25 year old who was recently dianosed with PCOS? My doctor prescribed me Provera to finally make my perios start, then birth control to regulate my cycles. She also told me to lose 50 pounds. So far I've lost 13. What are my chances?

Diagnosed with Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), what are my chances of being able to concieve?
studies have shown that losing only 5% of your body weight can kick start ovulation. you've already lost 26% of the weight that you should lose, so you're a 1/4 of the way there! losing weight can get your hormones balanced again, enough to ovulate by yourself.

have you always been overweight? if so that may be the reason you don't ovulate by yourself.

even if the losing weight doesnt help (there are some slim women who have pcos too, but usually they were always slim), then your doc can put you on metformin which helps with insulin levels, you see high insulin levels stimulate the ovaries to produce too much testosterone, which messes up the hormone balance, interfering with ovulation.

if metformin doesnt work either, your doc might then put you on clomid as well, which makes most women ovulate.

A study I read said that 80% of women ovulate when using metformin and clomid, but keep up the good work and try to do it naturally first i say.

a good website is www.ovarian-cysts-pcos.com It helps me.
Reply:That depends on teh severity of it. I was told the same thign 20 years ago. I now have a 13 year old, 20 month old and an 8 week old, all natural. Not much help, but just to say doctors underestimate what God can do!

wtg on your weight loss btw!
Reply:I am 25 also. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 18. I had very irregular periods (8-10 months apart). The doc put them on provera to jump start my periods, then birth control. When we decided to try for a baby, she prescribed Metformin to help regulate the insulin. It made me to sick that I quit taking it. After 2 months without a period (which was normal) I started feeling really icky. I guess it wasn't as hard for me to get pregnant as everyone predicts it would be. I hope it is as easy for you! Incidently, when I got pregnant, I had just lost 30 pounds from taking phenteramine.
Reply:Apparently my cousin has this and they put her on insulin to regulate the ovaries. She is not diabetic but apparently it help control the cystic production. None the less she is quite heavy as well and apparently this has helped her to lose some weight. But, you know with weight loss you need to do your part and stay active and eat well both of which you will need to continue once you are pregnant. Good luck and stay fit.
Reply:Hi, Lots of people with PCOS have kids. I have it too and am TTC#1. I really believe that weigh loss and maintaining a low GI diet (lots of whole, unprocessed foods- stay away from white flour products and avoid too much sugar etc) is the way to go. I really do question why doctors put women on the pill to regulate cycles because my (lay-persons) understanding is that all bets are off when you come off the pill and your body will do what it wants to do and then you are back at square one, and your body has to purge all of the left over hormones from the pill. I suggest you talk to your doctor again, or even get a 2nd opinion.
Reply:just stay positive and with faith in god anything is posible and i wish u good luck %26amp; lots of baby dust

im 7 weeks and i have a pain in my left ovary its not severe but it feels like someones pinching it. its off and on it just started. im worried somethings wrong. my morning sicknss has been getting worse and there was no bleeding or spotting at all . when should i be conerned and call the doctor, and has anyone expieriened this before and had everything turn out okay?

i had a blighted ovum before but then my morning sickness and all the symptoms went away after 2 days, and i spotted 12 days after my period was due, and i had severe pains.

Im pregnant and i have a pain in in my left ovary?
Could be a threatened miscarriage or it could be some round ligament pains...I was having the same kind of pain but on my right ovary. i think its normal that's what the Dr. told me. If it gets worse or you start bleeding go to the ER.
Reply:As not being a doctor at all, I wonder how you can tell for sure what is hurting exactly. I would advise going to your doctor.
Reply:see a doctor asap...

it could be something very serious
Reply:I think it's best to seek a professional doctor immediately to be certain about your body and the baby.

Can Masterbating off hot tub jets cause infection or ovary problems.?

My sister went into our hot tub and was masterbating off of hot tub jets, and is questioning what the chemicals or cholrine can do, and if it can harm ovaries or give infection.

Can Masterbating off hot tub jets cause infection or ovary problems.?
Hot tubs are full of microbes
Reply:If water (especially chemically treated water) gets inside the vagina, it'll upset the pH balance of what's already inside there and lead to a possible infection. I don't think it'll harm the ovaries directly, they're pretty far up there for the water to reach. But it's not a very good idea to let hot tub/pool water get anywhere near the inside of the vagina because of the potential harm it could do.
Reply:The chlorine Put in too kill all germs ,I dought if she get a infection ,And no it wont harm her ovaries, But if the hot tub 's going to be used for sex, i'd wont use any chemials for that night. But please let your sister know she will be fine .
Reply:Haha and your sister told you she did this? I think it was you :) but anyway, nothings going to happen. its perfectly safe
Reply:Lol I bet it was your sister
Reply:whats your sisters number? ha

I too have PCOS and i take metformin. I have a 6 year old son that was conceived while on metformin and a 2 year old son also concieved while on metformin, but with him we needed the extra boost and also used Clomid. I am now pregnant with #3 while using metformin. Talk to your doctor about getting metformin... i swear by the stuff!
Reply:Well i have pcos also and my doc says try metformin and it may help if not there are many drugs that can help just talk to your doctor. Also try making yourself as nutritionally sound as possible by getting the right nutriends and vitamins.

I had intercourse afterwards felt pain in ovary for 2 days, now am having light spotting ?
Could be a lot of things.

An infection of some sort most likely.

Need to seek doc darling.
Reply:Did you have sex without protection? If so it could be implantation bleeding. GL!
Reply:I still don't get why people who are in pain, or notice someone else in pain....or even notice something wrong with their pets, consult the world of yahoo answers before a proffesional. If you think there is something wrong with you, go to see a doctor! The possibly bad advice you get on here is not worth risking your health over.
Reply:You could have a cyst in your ovary-see a Dr.

I am 58 and have a follicle and blood in one ovary. Advise?

The follicle is on the right and the area of blood is on the left ovary. Both showed up in an ultrasound. I have a normal uterine lining and a calcification on the right ovary.

I am 58 and have a follicle and blood in one ovary. Advise?
I'm not sure how the ultrasound showed blood in your ovary, as ultrasounds can detect mass, fluid and fluid-flow (detected by a Doppler ultrasound test), not necessarily the actual type of fluid.

In order for a follicle to show up on an ultrasound it must contain some fluid, so I'm guessing that maybe you have enough residual hormones in your body to create a follicle, or perhaps this is an old follicle which has maybe formed into a small cyst which has calcified.

By your post you seem worried so I would try and get an appointment with the person who sent you for the ultrasound tests, they are much more qualified to answer your questions, and relieve any worries you have.

Wishing you lots of luck.
Reply:Go to an OBGYN. I am surprised that if you have that condition and are not being treated by some kind of doctor. It could be a simple condition to fix, but it could be cancer too.
Reply:what in the hell? heres a tip, get off yahoo and go say hi to a doctor.

What does could not flip left ovary due to adhesions and with die no spill bilaterally mean.?

i just had a laparscopic surgery to find out why i have not been getting pregnant. they also did a d%26amp;.c as well. and also a endometrium biopsy

What does could not flip left ovary due to adhesions and with die no spill bilaterally mean.?
I think this means you have blocked felopian tubes. I am sorry, but I had this done and they inject a die through the tubes, if they spill through to the ovaries then the tubes are fine and clear, in your case it did not spill. I also believe adhesions mean scarring or blockage. Do you have history of endometriosis? Why did you get a d%26amp;c? I had one 8 weeks ago for a miscarriage to clean out my uterus, didn't think they do it for infertility problems. Well, good luck and don't worry there are many treatments to help with your situation, I was infertile for 6 years, then we had a baby boy last year and 8 months later I was pregnant! But this was the miscarriage. I plan to try to get prego soon!

infertility or inability to get pregnant because of not ovulating

increased growth of hair on the face, chest, stomach, back, thumbs, or toes

acne, oily skin, or dandruff

pelvic pain

weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist

type 2 diabetes

high cholesterol

high blood pressure

male-pattern baldness or thinning hair

patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs

Provided is a link below explaining more detail.

Good luck!

I did try this and I can tell you it did not work for me. I have PCOS and have conceived 5 times on Clomid. Some of those ended in miscarriage but three have been successful. Good luck and lots of baby dust sent your way!

How is PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) diagnosed?

How is PCOS diagnosed? Is this diagnosed through a Papsmear?

When trying to conceive, were you put on fertility treatment? What type of treatment (clomid, ivf....)

Thanks :)

How is PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) diagnosed?
I was diagnosed with PCOS through a laperoscopy surgery. The doctor used a dye, went in had a snoop and took photos. If you have PCOS, your ovaries will probably look like they have a severe acne problem, lol.

When I was diagnosed with this problem I was also diagnosed with endometriosis, the doctor said that I would have to have IVF, or take fertility drugs to concieve. I was told this by three different gyno's. So I was not really careful having sex with my partner. Surprisedly I am now almost 6 months pregnant with my first babyn and its a boy! Brock, due on 10-06-2008.

Dont always believe what the doctors tell you, they can be wrong. And good luck.
Reply:it is diagnosed by a ultrasound, and blood work too. but depending on how bid the cyst is the doc may be able to feel it, but your utris being enlarged. and yes your doc will put you on fertility treatment if you want to get pregant. there is clomid and metformin..there are also other things they can do like surgery and seeing if you tubes are clogged buy putting dye in your tubes and inserting a scope too look in there and they can fluse your tubes

Describe the passage of the ovum once it leaves the ovary to be fertilized?

The mature egg makes its way down through the fallopian tubes which, if intercourse occured the day before, the egg and sperm meet. To dispell any myth, conception begins in the fallopian tube which is how ectopic (tubal) pregnancies occur. The now dividing ball of cell or zygote, makes its way into the uterus where it imbeds itself. This is the future site of the placenta. I probably went too far but oh well lol. Good Luck with your health class.

Describe the passage of the ovum once it leaves the ovary to be fertilized?
Across, down, and out.

??
Reply:3-7 days in the fallopian tubes, then implanting into the uterus.
Reply:Looking for the best prospect (in the fallopian tube)...
Reply:uhh the fallopian tube
Reply:Most scientists and medical professionals believe the female egg becomes fertilized within the fallopian tube. After this takes place, it travels down the tube - making it's longest journey until the passage of the baby through the birth canal. It takes approximately 5 to 12 days for the embryo to make this journey and become implanted in the lining of the uterus.

How big is ovary with child and without child?

How big is overy with child and without child.

How big is ovary with child and without child?
Ovaries hold the eggs - Uterus holds the baby :-) And the PP is right, size of a fist with no baby - size of a soccer ball with baby.
Reply:Your ovaries do not change size in pregnancy, your womb does. And that depends on the size of your child. A non pregnant womb is about the size of your fist and a full term sized womb is enormous!!
Reply:It's said to be the size of your own fists, and no, it won't be enlarged because of a child normally, but they will change sizes if it has certain conditions like cysts.

I had a real bad pain in my right ovary, can anyone tell me why this happen?

I could not even walk with the pain, it was real bad! It could of have been because I was going to have my period but, its been 3 days already and I still don't have my period, so I can't think of anything else that could of have been the reason for the pain. If anyone knows any reason why please let me know.

I had a real bad pain in my right ovary, can anyone tell me why this happen?
It can be ovulation... sometimes people get pain when they ovulate.

It could be a cyst around your ovary. if it is, it would be extremely painful if you ovulated and there is a cyst there. The cyst could have also burst, and that would be VERY painful.

It could also be your appendix. Women can get mixed up because your appendix is on the right side as well. You could have appendixitis (when your appendix gets enlarged).

In any case you should see your doctor bc you may need an ultrasound of the area to check for a cyst or your appendix.
Reply:I tend to get pains like this alot, sometimes month round. Does the pain get really bad then taper off for a few seconds then get bad again and so on and so forth? These are just cramps, some women get them worse than others. If pain killers, like advil or tylenol dont work, then see your doctor.
Reply:You could have a cyst. Have it checked out.
Reply:Well it might be an ovarian cyst. You should go to your doctor and they will probably want to remove it.

or it could be your appendix...and then you definitely have to get that removed...
Reply:it might be thet it's not the gynecoligical nature of the pain. maybe u have sand in ur kidneys so it causes harder passing of urine. hope u get better.
Reply:sometimes we get pains just before are periods it's quite normal but if you can't walk then i say you should see your gp as you could have an infection, are you sure your not pregnant? you could have a small cyst which can only be diagnosed via your gp seek help if you have anymore pain.

If I have an asyst on my ovary about an inch in diamiter can I still get pregnant?

Im suppose to start the 8th of this month but im not really showing any signs just eatin alot i already have one son but still a lil confused..... help pleze

If I have an asyst on my ovary about an inch in diamiter can I still get pregnant?
Yes, you can get pregnant if you have ovarian cysts. I had one the size of a golf ball the last time I was pregnant, and during the course of the pregnancy, it shrunk down to the size of a dime.
