a friend of mine is in the hospital with this and the doctors say they dont know...she would like to know why she didn't feel it untill now, now that it is huge.
How can you not feel a cyst growing on your ovary if it is about 3 inches long?
the abdominal organs are surrounded by a kind of skin called the "peritoneum". unlike our superficial skin, this peritoneum is not supplies nerves for touch, temperature etc. however a part of this peritoneum is supplied by pain nerve fibres and that will be stimulated if the cyst grows very rapidly.
but i think even though ur frien had this cyst, it must ve been for a long time and would ve grown slowly...hence she never felt it.
Reply:How can you feel it if is growing inside the body?
Reply:no nerves around there were touched
Reply:My sister had a cyst the size of a cantaloupe before she started having pains. The cyst probably didn't aggravate any nerves.
