What is a 18mm corpus luteal cyst on right ovary??
A corpus luteum cyst is a very good sign! This cyst forms at the time of ovulation and its function to to produce progesterone to sustain the embryo until the placenta takes over production between 14 and 16 weeks.

The cyst will go away on its own shortly after the placenta takes over. This cyst is a good indication that your body "wants to be pregnant" and will produce a sufficient amount of progesterone to support your little one!
Reply:When the egg is released from the follicle, the corpus luteum is left. It produces progesterone which helps prepare the uterus for pregnancy or menstruation. It can go away on it's own, or sometimes it ruptures and causes pain. It's generally harmless though.
Reply:I am 31 weeks pregnant and moving out of state. I was just going through the papers my doc gave me to take to my new OB and found a notation on my 1st trimester ultrasound that says I had a 12 by 14 MM corpus luteal cyst on my right ovary. my doc never told me this. I have been doing some research and it seems that this is really normal in the 1st trimester and actually helps produce testoserone that you need right now. So don't get yourself all worked up about it.
