I have had laprascopic surgery to get a tumor removed from my ovary im still having pains is this normal?

i its been 2 weeks since surgery she also removed my fallopian tube on the right side i have a appointment today with doctor just wanted to know it anyone else has experienced this

I have had laprascopic surgery to get a tumor removed from my ovary im still having pains is this normal?
Wow...this is exactly the same story as mine except I didn't get laprascopic surgery (they had to do an incision so they wouldn't disrupt the tumor). They removed my left ovary along with my left fallopian tube.

I have small pains that seem to be coming from the inside rather than near the skin (or on the incision). I asked my mother about it and she told me some small pains along with some tingling feelings could be where the body is healing on the inside. She had a hysterectomy so she knew how the surgery would feel afterwards.

But other than that there's no pain. I was told to look for bruises appearing which could mean the area is becoming infected. None of that, thankfully.

But other than that there's not really much pain. I wouldn't understand why you would be feeling such pains since you got laprascopic surgery, though.

Good luck with the doctor! I hope it's nothing serious! And I wish you the best of health! =]

I have a pain in my right ovary?

Hi all

I have a pain in my right ovary came on couple days ago, not sure wat this can be also feeling very sick and just generally tired. Im not pregnant and came off my period over a week ago now. Erm past things that may have anything to do with this i have been doin alot of walkin over last week and i also terminated a pregnancy in january.

Can anyone shed some light wat this can be?

I have a pain in my right ovary?
I have the same problem but I have had this problem for years now and not sure what it is. Chances are it's a cyst but haven't been able to see a doctor yet but really you need to get it checked out. Don't wait until it's too late...!
Reply:Anytime...if you want IM me on Yahoo, sky_candy9341 or e-mail me at that @ yahoo.com..Knowing your not a lone is comforting sometimes.. Report It

Reply:Also the one thing that you need to know is that when you termanation a pregnancy you still have to heal. This means you may want to not do any heavy lifting or over dueing exercise. This will help remove some of the strain. Report It

Reply:well it could be due to infection in ur genital tract

c ur doc

hw can u be so sure pain is in ur ovary it could be anywhere
Reply:if it continues go see your doctor. pain can occur through exercise, infection ovulation, cysts go get it checked to put your mind at ease.

I had an ultrasound on April 7th they told me I have and cyst on my ovary?

I just got my period and I am in severe pain in my back abdomen and under my ribs and Im nauseaous is this normal??

I had an ultrasound on April 7th they told me I have and cyst on my ovary?
no its not normal ,get to a doctor as it could have ruptured
Reply:yes, it is normal. you form cysts on your ovary as part of a normal process. the cyst forms, swells then breaks releasing the egg and propelling it towards the fallopian tubes. Sometimes this can be a painful process, sometimes you don't even know when it is happening. As for your other symptoms, they are likely not even associated and you may have something else going on, like a virus or something.

Will it be hard for me to get pregnant with only one ovary?

i know its not impossible but how hard could it be? im getting married this year and im soo scared of not being able to have kids! that is my one and only desire! i had my ovary removed when i was 15 and now im 22 and i dont have trouble with my periods they are regular every month.

Will it be hard for me to get pregnant with only one ovary?
I've read that when you have 1 ovary, it takes on the job of both..meaning it will ovulate each month instead of taking turns with the other ovary. I think you will be fine. :-) Good luck!
Reply:it will be fine but it will take mopre times and a little more pain...but ur good ull be great...
Reply:I have a friend that has had 5 kids since one of her ovaries was removed. Just relax, it might take longer, but it can happen.
Reply:You will ovulate every other month, instead of every month- it will still be quite possible for you to get pregnant.
Reply:your fine!!!! just pray about it
Reply:Read Dr. Northrup's Wom's Bodies, Wom's Wisdom. Great chapter on fertility/conception. We got preg. 1st time with both kids using her guide.

Is there any relation between the right ovary and the appendix?

I'm suffering of menstrual pain every month

and it's severety is higher on the lower right side.. and the pain is radiating to my back and my thigh

i did an ultrasound and there was nothing wrong with my right ovary..

so.. is there any relation between the ovary and appendix.. and.. is there a chronic type of appenditis???

Is there any relation between the right ovary and the appendix?
No relationship between ovary and appendix. There IS a type of chronic appendix inflammation, but they usually just take the appendix out. I once had pain on my right side, and they thought it was my appendix, but during exploratory surgery, found it was a big cyst on my right ovary. I would encourage you to get another ultrasound, perhaps at a different time of the month in your cycle.
Reply:no, they are not related in any means.
Reply:Appedicitis isn't chronic, at least in the sense of it occurring several months at a time.

And, to the best of my knowledge, there is absolutely no connection between the ovary and the appendix. If you had an ultrasound of your ovary and everything was ok, then I'm hoping the doctor took into consideration any other problems that could be manifesting themselves that way. If he didn't think there was a problem with your appendix then I wouldn't worry about THAT.

My suggestion is to go back to a doctor. Tell them exactly what you said here. Hope you find an answer that helps! : )
Reply:Only that they are anatomically close together.
Reply:No and no.
Reply:No, there is not. But, if you are worried you might want to go to the doctor or you could go to: www.healthline.com and use the symptom checker. Just enter your symptoms in don't forgot any pain you might be having.

It will list possible things that could be wrong.

Don't forget to talk to your doc though!

goodluck
Reply:talk to ur OBGYN and family dr. it may be ur ovary but they didnt do a full one. u see is have ploycytic ovarian sydrome. i have to have 2 kinds, vaginal is the best, it shows more detail, have one done, also it could be ur appendix, that is why u must insist to have them checked...before it burst or worse. most places now use vaginal ultrasounds to determine pregnancies too..because its so effeicent. please hav ethem check, you could also have a tubal pregnancy.....so please go to both of them asap! best of luck!
Reply:I suffered pretty much the same thing and to my total disbelief I was told that the nerves that run through the oaies are the same ones that connect down to your thigh.

I recently had a very painful 'internal' and the majority of the pain was in my back and thighs.

If you are still worried though go back and have a chat to your GP or family planning nurse.

Good luck.
Reply:appendicitis is caused by bacteria i think. no, i dont think there's any direct connection between your ovary and appendix.

probably you have a low pain tolerance. i suggest you ask your doctor about "Dicycloverine". its a drug suitable for your menstrual pain

Stabbing pains near left ovary after Mirena insertion?

I got my Mirena put in almost a month ago. For the past 2 weeks or so I've been having bad stabbing pains off and on near my left ovary. Sometimes the pain goes into my back as well. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this type of pain with their Mirena and if this was normal. If not, does anyone have any idea what this could be? I have my Mirena check-up on May 2nd. Should I just wait until then to talk to my doctor about this?

I have small cysts that are on an ovary?

Sometimes they can be painful but, not too bad. They usually pop or disengage themselves. Is there a cure? My doctor has me on anti-inflammitories.

I have small cysts that are on an ovary?
The anti-inflammatories should do the trick.

At least half of all women have them.

I had them. They hurt sometimes but they are nothing to worry about.

What is the comparison of ovule and ovary in plant?

The ovule is an immature seed and it is usually found inside the ovary. The ovary will ripen into the fruit of the plant.

Is it true that losing weight can help improve the effects of polycystic ovary syndrome?

such as the hair growth, mid section weight, acne, ect.

Is it true that losing weight can help improve the effects of polycystic ovary syndrome?
yes it's true...at least that's what my Dr. says. if you have it, im sorry, but join the club
Reply:It's commonly believed to be the case, but there isn't really much known about the condition and if the medical profession don't know what causes it, then I don't think they can say for certain that losing weight helps. It could be something else which allows weight to be lost and also aids the symptoms. Weight gain and difficulty losing it are themselves symptoms, so it's hard to work out cause and effect. I don't know if I have PCOS or not, but I do know that when I lost a little weight, my periods returned for 3 months, and then disappeared when I regained the weight. But the interesting thing is that I was not trying to lose weight. It diminished and then increased again without my doing anything. That suggests there was a temporary improvement in something else, which affected both weight and menstrual cycle.
Reply:It does. The catch is that having PCOS makes it harder to lose weight. Talk about a vicious cycle! Since a lot of us are insulin resistant (even if it doesn't show up on routine blood tests) you may find it helpful to follow a Type II diabetes diet. There are a lot of good resources on that on the web and in your local bookstore. Basically, you have to be careful with how many and what kind of carbs you eat. South Beach is also pretty good for that.

If diet and exercise just aren't doing it for you, you may have an insulin problem. Your doctor may want to do further testing for that, and there are some fairly good treatments that can help.

Best of luck to you. I know it's hard.
Reply:Yes. PCOS is related to insulin resistance %26amp; insulin resistance is exacerbated by being heavy.

"You may benefit from counseling about healthy-eating choices and regular exercise. This is particularly important if you're overweight. Obesity makes insulin resistance worse. Weight loss can reduce both insulin and androgen levels, and may restore ovulation. Ask your doctor to recommend a weight-control program, and meet regularly with a dietitian.:

Would menses affect the results for polycystic ovary lab tests?

Not to my knowledge.

I have Menorrhagia. They were testing me to find out exactly what was wrong with me.

They did test for PCOS. Turns out I didn't have it.

So, I'm guessing It has no effect.

Would menses affect the results for polycystic ovary lab tests?
Didn't effect mine. But everyone is different.

What are the odds of conceiving with Poly-Cystic Ovary Syndrome?

I'm trying to conceive and I have Poly-Cystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS). I was diagnosed with it around 15-16, and I'm 28 now. Also, I have lost some weight recently (20+ pounds), and I'm hoping that will help. Does anyone here have it, and if so, were you able to conceive?

Thanks!

What are the odds of conceiving with Poly-Cystic Ovary Syndrome?
I have it, and I have 3 kids. I did however have 2 miscarriages as well. Keep trying, I know it can be difficult. Best of luck!
Reply:IVF (in vitro fertilization) treatment; IUI, ICSI and Laparoscopic surgery is very cheap in India. The cost is very low and the medical services are very good in India.

My cousin and her husband got their IVF treatment in India through the Forerunners Healthcare in India and is all praise for this company. She is a known case of PCOS.She is a very happy mother of a baby boy now. She just paid 2500 pounds for the full IVF treatment in India for which she was quoted 8000 pounds in private setup in UK.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India. I read a lot about them in the newspapers. I have also read about a Chinese couple who planned surrogacy through the Forerunners Healthcare. They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery and infertility treatment like IVF, IUI, and ICSI abroad for low price. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery and treatment can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

I have pain in my lower left side by the ovary is. I had surgery about 1 yr ago to remove polyps. What is it?

The pain is like dull achy but comes and goes. can anyone clarify this for me.

I have pain in my lower left side by the ovary is. I had surgery about 1 yr ago to remove polyps. What is it?
Abdominal/pelvic pain that is similar to that of period cramping may indicate a problem in a reproductive organ (like the pain around your ovaries or uterus).

This includes conditions such as endometriosis (when tissue from the uterus is displaced to somewhere else like the pelvic wall or ovaries), uterine fibroids (thick bands of muscular and fibrous tissue in the uterus), ovarian cysts, ovarian cancer (rare), or pelvic inflammatory disease (PID) infection of the reproductive organs, usually from a sexually transmitted disease.

If you have pain in your ovary area, you might have an ovarian cyst. I have experienced that same type of pain whenever I have had an ovarian cyst. I was also diagnosed with endometriosis last year which caused me severe pelvic pain and intense and painful period cramping.

Based on your symptoms and what you wrote, I would recommend that you should see your doctor/gynaecologist, just to rule out any serious causes.

Good luck :)
Reply:No way to say for sure. You'll need to see the doctor. It could be an ovarian cyst, or something else.

Is it possible to be pregnant after the the left ovary was removed?

i have a friend who was the left ovary removed and then after 3 months she got pregnant with a baby girl. was it possible? is there's no risk?

Is it possible to be pregnant after the the left ovary was removed?
i read somewhere that a female is born with her lifetime supply of eggs so ur frind still has some left. when u have ur period one month, the left ovary may release an egg and the next month, the right ovary does and so on. they take turns but now that she ha the left one gone, the right will jus do it every month so that mite mean less periods (lucky peson....lol)

i guess there its any risk and u prob think im a an adult, but im actually 12. we r learning about this in science class rite now (reproduction).
Reply:It's possible, she still has the right ovary. There's really no risk as long as her sutures have healed correctly.
Reply:She still has a right ovary...they normally take turns every month.
Reply:yep its still possible. a cousin of mine undergone the same operation the only difference is that the right ovary was removed. I already have a 1 and 3 mos old nephew.. there's no risk but if her wound hasn't healed enough she might be on cesarian section..

I have an cyst on my left ovary that is about 5 centimeters.?

Does anyone know if its okay to exercise with a cyst or will exercise aggravate it? Do I need to wait until it has gotten better? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have an cyst on my left ovary that is about 5 centimeters.?
You can feel free to exercise, but I would stay away from anything too strenuous to prevent it from rupturing.

Do light exercises like yoga or pilates, or you could just walk on a treadmill for 30-45 minutes.
Reply:I had one about the size of an orange that burst, and it hurt like heck! My doc told me to take it easy for a couple of days while it healed. Since you know the size of your cyst, I assume you have seen your doc and he/she should have explained to you that typically the cyst will shrink or be reduced in size depending on where you are at in your cycle. Usually cysts are harmless and go away on their own. I was told to continue life as usual, which includes intense exercise 5-6 days/week - there's nothing you can do to make it go away. So go exercise, and just be aware of classic symptoms of a burst cyst: abdominal pain, and/ or back pain, and/or pressure in abdomen. The pain is intense, you'll know if it burst. Good luck to you, I wish you well.

How long does it take for an egg to travel from the ovary to the uterus?

what is the travel time of an egg?

How long does it take for an egg to travel from the ovary to the uterus?
Very simply put? The egg, fertilized or not, will travel from the ovary to the uterus in about five days.

The egg is released from the ovary and travels to the fallopian tube, where fertilization may or may not occur. Tiny waving hairlike "cilia" propel the egg down the fallopian tube.

The egg must be fertilized and viable (normal, capable of growing, free from flaws), and the uterine lining must also be viable, for the egg to implant.
Reply:A day or two after her period stops, eggs in her ovaries start to ripen. The influence of increasing hormones causes the egg that is most ripe to be released about 14 days before her next period begins. The ripened egg then travels down the fallopian tube toward the uterus.

Hope that helps

Is it possible to get polycystic ovary syndrome after having 2 children?

I have PCOS and if you have it you where born with it. PCOS just dones't show up the symptoms do. I have had 2 childen as matter of fact I just had a hystectomy 8 weeks ago because of it. The symptoms for me really didn't show till after I got my tubes tied. If you PCOS keep close taps with your obgyn because it's not to play around with as I'm learning all to well.

Is it possible to get polycystic ovary syndrome after having 2 children?

Can you have a health baby even if you have a cyst on your ovary?

I found out that I am 5 weeks pregnant. 2 days ago I had cramping and I got scared, so I went to the emergency room. They did an ultra sound on me and said that everything looks normal, and there is a cyst on my ovary. They say this feeds the baby until the cord forms, but my sister who is a nurse says it's not called a cyst it's something else. SOMEONE help me!! :)

Can you have a health baby even if you have a cyst on your ovary?
Don't worry! Yes you can have a healthy baby-I did.
Reply:1) Go by what the doctor says. I know your sister is a nurse, but your sister was not there for the ultrasound. Plus your sister depsite her medical knowledge, does not know everything a doctor does.

2) You should be fine, as the baby, if under close supervision of your physician.
Reply:I had one on my left side and know im 35 weeks pregnant....
Reply:Cysts on your ovaries during pregnancy is completely 100% normal. Do not stress over it. It is absolutely normal!
Reply:i had one on my right side and im 22 wks now every thing in going perfect so far
Reply:Thanks for asking this question, I was wondering the same thing. I am 7 weeks right now and I have a cyst on my right ovary. The doctor told me it's called a corpus luteum cyst and that they normally resolve themselves. I checked out some info on it at webmd as well.
Reply:You have nothing to worry about regarding the "cyst", hypochondria is a common side effect of pregnancy. Best of luck.
Reply:yes i had a cyst on my ovary since i was a teen and i still had 4 healthy children
Reply:My daughter delivered healthy full term twins with a cyst. The cyst grew as the babies did and was dangerous because the female hormones fed it. As soon as she gave birth it shrunk back down to the size of a walnut. She didn't have any other children and 14 years after giving birth she had a hysterectomy. She is just fine.

How would i say i went to the dr and they found a cyst on my right ovary and a cyst on my left ovary?

I need to know how to say this in medical terms its for medical terminology class i cant figure out how to word it just right..please someone help and only answer if you know what you arer talking about please ?thanks!

How would i say i went to the dr and they found a cyst on my right ovary and a cyst on my left ovary?
In medical terms, we call them ovarian cysts. The medical prefix for ovaries is oophor-, but it's not really used in this situation. If you have an ovary taken out, it's an oophorectomy.
Reply:We in medicine occasionally use English, too. But I think what you're looking for may be something along the lines of "bilateral ovarian cysts." Just a guess, but that "bilateral" may be the word you're looking for.

If i have ovarian cysts does it mean i have polycystic ovary syndrome?

i was diagnosed with ovarian cysts at 15 and as i have researched the matter further i have come to know that this may affect my chance of becoming pregnant.

can anyone help me?

If i have ovarian cysts does it mean i have polycystic ovary syndrome?
not necessarily. Ovarian cysts are normal...but if you have polycystic ovarian syndrome then you have a hormone imbalance...lack of periods, weight gain, excessive facial hair, etc. Women with PCOS may have a more difficult time of getting pregnant but it is not impossible...usually with drugs the ovulation can be induced to conceive. If you have any symptoms of pcos its important to get treated as soon as possible to increase the chances of fertility and decrease the chances of diabetes and heart disease.

I had a ovarian cyst removed and they took the ovary 4 weeks ago please read on?

The surgeon said if I had keyhole recovery would be 2 weeks and open surgery would be 4 weeks. I had this done by keyhole and although I feel fine most of the time sometimes I will get a twinge when I sneeze for example. I received a letter this morning advising me that the cyst wasn't cancerous. When should the twinges stop? Also has it effected my chances of conceiving in the future? will I have a period every month or every 2?

I had a ovarian cyst removed and they took the ovary 4 weeks ago please read on?
The twinges are because you are healing internally, they should begin to improve soon and certainly after 6 weeks. Your chances of conceiving are reduced but it certainly is not impossible for you to conceive - it only takes one egg and one sperm to make a baby!! As for your periods, they will still come each month and should not be affected.

Good luck, hope you feel better soon and pleased for you that the cyst wasn't cancerous

xx
Reply:i believe you'll still have a period every month but will probably go into menopause earlier - ovary that's left goes into overdrive. ring your doc n ask about the twinges. doesn't sound worrying tho - i mean it was surgery. stuff inside got cut n stitched. having twinges after two weeks sounds ok. don't think it effects fertility cept for the earlier menopause. ask a doc!
Reply:Call you doctor back they will answer your questions and you will be sure to get facts from the dr.

Good luck
Reply:cant really say about concieving wouldnt of thought it would make a difference but as for twinges i has keyhole nearly a year ago for difference reasons to urs but i still get twinhes from time to time and 2 weeks seems really fast anyway they told me 6-8 weeks

About 2 months ago I went to the doctor and was told that my right ovary was swollen. What could this be?

My depo shot was coming up that next week. I was told that if it didnt stop swelling after I got my shot then to come back. Well since then I've moved. I dont know if it could even be serious.

I an giving you a link that explains possible causes of swollen ovaries.

You may want to go back to the doctoe and be checked out after reading.

Reply:This is hard to answer, because anything from an ovarian cyst (which is usually not a severe problem) to ovarian torsion (a problem) to cancer (a bad problem). Enlarged ovaries are not normal and should be fully diagnosed. Hope this helps.

How does the ovary work with different organ systems to keep the body healthy?

Ovaries produce estrogen which is important for the development and maintenance of secondary sex characteristics during and after puberty. It plays a role in fat deposition and distribution. It is also thought to play a protective role in the development/progression of vascular disease.

How does the ovary work with different organ systems to keep the body healthy?
I think you are a little confused.

The ovary is in fact 2 ovaries and only women have them. They contain the eggs that are 1/2 of the reproductive process of humans. They aren't designed to keep the body healthy, but to make babies.

Can You Still Have Babies With One Ovary?

Well my brother has this crazy idea and thinks that my mother s not her mother because he says he has never seen pictures when she was pregnant and 1 year ago before he was born she had a surgery and they took out 1 ovary i think. A year later she had my 24 year old brother. 10 years later she had me. But that was 11 years later after hes first surgery.

He also say that becase of family problems to

So is there any chance a women can have babies with half or 1 ovary?

Can You Still Have Babies With One Ovary?
yes, you can
Reply:Yes, women can get pregnant if they only have 1 or part of an ovary.

Do you think you mother would lie to you for some reason?
Reply:Yes women with one ovary can still have children.Usually each month one ovary releases an egg and the next month the other ovary releases an egg. So if this egg is fertilised the woman will fall pregnant. Many women who have one ovary or one fallopian tube go on to have a family. It is common for children who are having a difficult time with family problems to feel that either one of their parents isnot their real parent. Hope this helps .
Reply:My mom had 3 with one ovary!
Reply:You can have babies with only one ovary.
Reply:My mom had me with only 1/2 an ovary!
Reply:i think maybe you should ask a doctor that ? you could try it and see if you do get pregant first then if not then you must have 2 . love duane
Reply:Yes, you can get pregnant with only one ovary, assuming that ovary is functioning propery (i.e. releasing eggs). Women with two ovaries usually alernate month-to-month as to which ovary will release the egg. When one ovary is removed, the other usually "takes over" and begins releasing an egg every month.
Reply:I know someone who had 2 babies and she only has 1 ovary. She just had her second child about 2 months ago.

Can you diagnose Polycystic Ovary Syndrome after having had a complete hysterectomy?

My sister, who is 9 years younger than me, has just been diagnosed with PCOS. When I look at some of the symptoms and health problems that are linked with PCOS, I can't help but wonder if both my Mother and myself are at risk.

I have had and still have health problems that may or may not be a direct result of Polycystic Ovary Syndrome and I can say the same about my Mother's health (except my Mother has had no fertility problems that we know of).

I can't help but wonder...

Can you diagnose Polycystic Ovary Syndrome after having had a complete hysterectomy?
PCOS can be diagnosed from blood tests. There are various hormones such as testosterone that are much higher with PCOS.

I have PCOS and it is a pain in the rear, but you do get used to managing it.

What would happen if a 46 chromosome immature cell were released from the ovary rather than a 23 chromosome eg

sorry the question cut off it should say egg? at the end

What would happen if a 46 chromosome immature cell were released from the ovary rather than a 23 chromosome eg
simply it would be 46+23=69...

ok its a joke ,seriously it would cause a great problem ,anything can happen .abnormality, may be in agood sense or in a bad sense ,beneficial or bane, but whatever will happen results are not predictable..
Reply:It will not fuse with the sperm cell and fertilization will not take place. And after few years, human race will vanish from the earth. Wish, that this should never happen.

How many times a month an egg is released out of your ovary?

and how long does it wait for it to meet with the sperm?

How many times a month an egg is released out of your ovary?
once... most of the times. It stay around for a few days waiting to be fertilize... if its not fertilize then you get your period. The ovulation day is the 14th day of your cycle...to women with a normal ovulation cycle (28 days counting from the first day of your period )
Reply:you only release an egg once a month. which is everytime you get your period. thats why you bleed so that the egg comes out.
Reply:Normally, once, and it will survive for a few days.
Reply:once a month only...

I have had a cyst on my right ovary for about 4 months now. I got it checked out by the doctor and we're monitoring it. Does anyone know if this effects my chances of getting pregnant?

I have a cyst on my ovary. Does this effect the ability to get pregnant?
Nope I have a cyst on my right ovary also. I have two kids. So don't worry hun... If you had several on both ovaries, and had to have them removed, then you would not be able to conceive. But many people have a cyst on their ovary.
Reply:Yes it can make one ovary not able to function as well as it could.
Reply:Yes it can. I went through it with a woman. We were trying to get pregnant and even after in- vetro we wound up giving up and having the ovaries removed.
Reply:I got pregnant with having endometriosis and having cysts on my ovaries.

Go to http://www.mymonthlycycles.com and put in your period info and it will calculate when you will be fertile and ovulating.

Good luck
Reply:Only if you have surgery to get it removed.

My science textbook says that a mature human female ovary releases one egg each month. So, how are twins born?

Wouldn't twins need two eggs? If two eggs are released, how does that happen?

Also, how do you explain triplets, quadruplets and so on?

My science textbook says that a mature human female ovary releases one egg each month. So, how are twins born?
On average one a month is released.

Or so it is assumed.

It's kinda hard to be digging into such a soft place with metal tweezers and expect to get much cooperation every day.

Sometimes more than one is released, thus more than one egg is fertilized. Fraternal kids are created.

Or, one egg fertilized splits into two or more embryoes and thus multiple identical kids are created.

Or, sometimes the mechanism screws up, and one ends up with parasitic twins.

Fertility drugs and pollutants have an effect in which multiple eggs can be released.
Reply:Identical twin (trips, etc) result from only one egg and in the earliest stages of development the embryo splits.

In the case of fraternal sets, either both ovaries release an egg or one releases more than one. This can be caused by many factors including the use of fertility drugs.
Reply:A female has two ovaries, so it's possible for two eggs to be released at once. This is what happens with Fraternal twins. Two eggs are fertilized by two sperm (one per egg), which then implant in the uterine wall in two different places. Since they are from two eggs and two sperm, they are no different than any other brothers or sisters (or brother and sister - since they are from two different sperm, they don't have to be the same gender). They are functionally two separate pregnancies that just happen to occur at the same time.

Sometimes more than one egg will be released per ovary. One egg per month is the 'norm' but some women naturally differ. Sometimes it's the result of fertility drugs which artificially boost the rate, sometimes it's just natural variation between people.

Identical twins arise from *one* egg fertilized by *one* sperm. The fertilized cell develops normally for a few divisions, but then splits in two. It then develops normally, in parallel with it's other half (since it is so early in development, it can compensate for losing half of its cells without any problems). The result is two genetically identical embryos that share one amniotic sac and one placenta.

Sometimes the embryo can split more than once, leading to multiple identical siblings (not necessarily in multiples of two - if one embryo split, then only one of the resultant twins split, you could end up with identical triplets). It's a slightly more complex process, though, so I think identical triplets (and above) are more rare than, say, fraternal triplets.
Reply:Identical twins are when the cells of a single fertilized egg divide completely in two, forming two identical sets of cells that become fetuses then babies. Identical multiples (very rare) are the result of even further splitting of the single fertilized egg.

Fraternal twins are the result of 2 sperm fertilizing one egg and it's splitting into two separate non identical sets of cells. Sometimes women's ovaries do release more than one egg and they all get fertilized.

Larger multiple births (those that occur naturally are very rare. Most of them these days are the result of fertility drugs that force the ovaries to release more than one egg each month.
Reply:I have twins! There are two ways multiples can occur. The first, some woman (me!) release MORE THAN ONE egg per month. Each of those eggs gets fertlized by different sperm, and that causes a Multiple Birth. And second, an egg can SPLIT (after it's been fertilized)! So, in the case of a woman who only produces one egg per month ... her egg has SPLIT (it breaks in two, or three, or four, etc.) and that causes a Multiple Birth. I'm not sure why your textbook is WRONG!
Reply:Monozygotic twins (identical twins, in common parlance) =

one fertilized ovum dividing while the cells still have the potential to develop into independent organisms (2 babies).

These are true twins, genetically identical (clones).

Sometimes multiple ova are released. Dizygotic twins (fraternal twins) = two ova fertilized by two sperm which develop into babies. Dizygotic twins are no more related than siblings born years apart. They simply happen to develop in utero at the same time.
Reply:Wow. I thought the Florida education system was bad.

Brandon
Reply:The human female have tow ovaries, left and right. Each will release an ovum at a time. If both ova were fertilized the result will be in-identical twins. The other case of twinning is that a single ovum is fertilized, divided into tow embryos each embryo will give a child resulting in identical twins. Triples may result from one ova giving tow embryos and the other giving one or both ova giving tow but one embryo dies. Quadruplets is tow ova giving tow differed embryos or one ova giving tow embryos and the tow are further divided into four embryos.
Reply:Twins are results of two sperms entering an ovum, the female body does release only 1 egg or ovum per month

How to get pregent if lefttube of the ovary is blocked and there is no problem in my husband sement?

is it necessary to do laproscorpy

How to get pregent if lefttube of the ovary is blocked and there is no problem in my husband sement?
Your body will start ovulating reguarly from the same side after a while. Keep trying! Try an ovulation predictor, that way you can be sure of when you are ovulating and you will know if you ovulate each mnth.

Babydust!~
Reply:To tell the truth... I only have one tube, the other one has been removed... If your right one is still normal and fine and your husbands semen is fertile then I dont think you should have a problem...

Calculate they days that you are fertile and then on that days and whenever you have time to have sex. Just relax through the whole prosess..It will come..

Can an ovulation test determine if you are ovulating out of the ovary that has a tube?

i have 2 ovaries but only one fallopian tube, can an ovulation test determine when i am ovulating out of the side with the tube or will it just show that i am ovulating since i have both ovaries. the 800 number people did not know.

Can an ovulation test determine if you are ovulating out of the ovary that has a tube?
it's only shows that the hormones are present to encourage ovulation. It doesn't even "prove" your actually ovulating.

If you are concerned they can do an ultrasound at your dr.'s office to see which side has a larger follicle ready to release.

Is it possible only to ovulate from one ovary when on clomid?

shouldn't both ovaries be stimulated? is it normal to only have one side have any developing follicles?

Is it possible only to ovulate from one ovary when on clomid?
Some women ovulate only on one side, some on both. You may have produced follicles on both sides, but only ones that are size 20 or more are efficient to ovulate.

Looks like i can see my right ovary pushing through my skin?

Iv noticed it for a month or two now, but it doesnt cause me any pain, sometimes i can see it, which looks like its pushing through my skin and over times it calms down,

im booked in at the doctors next week but i was wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows what it might be?

Looks like i can see my right ovary pushing through my skin?
it sounds more like a hernia in your abdominal wall, to me. it's a very tood thing you're getting it checked out by the doctor. anything that's protruding like that could be dangerous.
Reply:hmmmm its unlikey that it is your ovary pushing through your skin. But Im glad you are going to the doctors. I would say it could possibly be a cyst but you said you have no pain and with cysts you usually have some pain. Maybe it is a swollen fallopian tube or something. I dunno im glad y our not in pain but I would def. get that checked out ASAP
Reply:I would bet that it is a hernia. This is when you get a weakness in a muscle layer and it can protrude.
Reply:My first guess would be an ovarian cysts that is quite large. For you to be seeing your ovary like that, something is going on. Cysts or some kind of inflammation.
Reply:are you sure its not a hernia?

Does a twingie pinchy feeling in the lower abdomen mean that u have ovary cyst?

please someone advise as i might have it but its not sure bec it showed a 1.5cm folicalle when there shouldnt be.

please advise

Does a twingie pinchy feeling in the lower abdomen mean that u have ovary cyst?
Yes, it's possible it could be a cyst but also depending on where you are in your cycle it could be an indication that you are ovulating or have something going on with the nerves in that area (just giving an example only).

The only way to know for sure is to see your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think is going on.
Reply:Is it constant, or something that happens for a few hours about 14 days before your period? If it's the latter, it could be ovulation pain. If it's the former, you should go see your gynecologist.

Girls: have you ever had a cyst in the ovary or an ovary removed? What's it like?

I have a cyst in my left ovary which is exceeding the size of the ovary itslef; its seems like I'm gointo the get the cyst removed and probably the ovary as well (I'll get the confirmation next week). I would like to know what happens with the menstruation; does it happen just once each 2 months? Is it done with general or local anesthesia; Is the recovery from the operation hurtful? How long should you stay in the hospital? And home in bed? Is the scar left very big? Will I be able to hide it? Anything else about the experience that you think I should know? Thanks!

Girls: have you ever had a cyst in the ovary or an ovary removed? What's it like?
It's OK. Don't worry, specialists earned their degrees for a reason. I had massive cysts on my ovaries in my late teens - so bad in fact that I was told I would never be able to have children. I have two - four years apart, so don't believe everything they tell you.

You will be placed under aenthesia (kind of like falling asleep.) The incision will be small - about and inch... even less depending on the size. There are usually very few complications and nothing about your menstrual cycle will change.

It will be a few weeks before your incision is completely healed, but you can confer with your OB/Gyn on how best to prevent scarring. Mederma is usually a prescription they will give you.

Good luck - this will not make you any less a woman! May that terrible cramping be reduced!
Reply:talk to your doctor if he can't answer that he don't need to cut on them da
Reply:they do it by laparoscope so u wont have a big scar

no change in menses and fertility as long as the other ovary is ok

dont worry

every thing else depends on pathology report
Reply:My sister did yes! While she was pregnant. The cyst was the size of a grapefruit, she had emergency surgery. She only has one ovary now.

She gets regular periods still, but she did bleed after the surgery. The hospital stay depends, over night to two days. Scar isn't very big at all. You will be able to hide it! :)

Just make sure you do it sooner than later, my sister waited and she got horrible horrible pains, rushed to the hospital, and had emergency surgery on it. She didn't loose the baby though. It is painful, but better to get the surgery than go through pain you might be feeling now. Home in bed, depends on the person. Take it easy around home maybe a week. I don't know about the anesthesia though, sorry.

I really hope this helps.
Reply:been there and done that

day surgery by lap with no visible scars after 18 months and your periods will be less severe one month but really no change! (or at least that is me) but definetely get the surgery to remove the ovary or it will continue to have cysts and one may burst then you really be in pain and you will not care about the scar to make the pain go away
Reply:I had both removed laproscopically. It involved only three small incissions that were covered by band-aids and I went home the same day with very little pain. The scars are no longer visible.
Reply:Check out the web site: Hystersisters.com

It is full of information.
Reply:when i was 11 i had a cysts the size of a grapefruit(or something like that they said it was huge)but it was i think on my left ovary i had to have surery it took about 7 hours(waking up was awful)(i didn't have to have my ovary removed thank god)it took me awile to recover.but a week later i had to be in my sisters wedding(and i had my period a 2 or 3 weeks later lol) it didn't seem like anything happened i was fine.it was horrible having it it ruined my life but now i am better also my scar is between my belly button and before my private area it was big for awile then you can't see it,it is a staright line but you can't really tell everything is fine now Also mine was on my ovary

also 2 years later another came up but this time it was small but i had atleast caught it before anything got serious and my doctor suggested just to take birth control pills(so it can do everything for me regualte my period and get rid of it)
Reply:I have had ovarian cysts... still have some small ones. I had one burst on me before and it's PAINFUL. I had to crawl to the phone for help. I never had one removed but I have had the ovarian drilling done. It is all done by LAP... through your bellybutton. I had three small incisions one in the naval, one a little higher up and one in the middle of the two more to the side. You can't see them anymore and I had the surgery done in April 2000. It was a day surgery... in and out. I was sore for 3 days.
Reply:You will be getting your period every month. When you go to the hospital they will talk to you after the OP and they can answer all your question on a professional level. Write all your questions down so you have them ready. It will hurt a bit, but not worry they have excellent stuff, whoopee!!! That will make you feel better.

Your stay in the hospital depends how good you're doing, mind you they try to kick everyone our real quick nowadays.

Anyway Good Luck and Get Well Soon.

What are the odds of getting pregnant if you have a cystic ovary and endemetriosis?

low but my friend had endemetriosis and one ovary outta action from an ectopic pregnancy and is on her seccond child.

apparently being pregnant helps endemetriosis!

she was trying for a while tho.

Will having an ovarian cyst and ovary removed make it more difficult to become pregnant?

Only having one ovary will lessen the amount of eggs produced and you will only be ovulating every other month. So yes-it will make it harder, but not impossible. When the time comes, your doctor will have plenty of options to help out the process such as medications and other treatments. Good luck to ya.

Will having an ovarian cyst and ovary removed make it more difficult to become pregnant?
Your chances of getting pregnant with one ovary are 1/2 as your chances with both. Usually you ovulate from each side, every other month. Now it will just be the one side. It's not much to worry about. You only need one fallopian tube and one ovary. It just might take a little longer. Good luck to you.
Reply:It will for sure, it might not make it impossible, but it can be common to only ovulate from one ovary...that's something to keep in mind.

Is it nessisary to remove the cyst and ovary? Or is it something you can hold off on.

If it's too big or wrapped around your follopian tube, that's understandable that it needs to be removed.

But quite often pregnancy will help dimish or totally cause the cyst to disappear.
Reply:It may make it more difficult, but not impossible. Many women conceive who only have one ovary. Good luck!

Can you still have kids with one ovary?

My sister had to have an ovary removed while spending a year obroad in Japan. It was an emergency operation and the surgeons were good as she was at a very modern hospital in a larger city. I believe she had a cyst. She is only 32. Can she still have children? I'm 34 and probably won't have kids and I would like my Mom to be able to be a Grandmother.

Can you still have kids with one ovary?
Yes, she can. My ex-mother-in-law had a healthy baby boy after having an ovary removed.
Reply:you can with one ovary, time your ovulation with a predictor kit cause with one ovary you should be ovulation every other month cause your ovaries take turns but use a kit to make sure whats months your still ovulating
Reply:Yes, she should as long as there aren't other problems!
Reply:Yes - as long as that ovary is releasing eggs, she will be able to have children. It may take longer than a woman with 2 ovaries but she should be able to conceive.
Reply:She can definitely have a child. I have a friend who had no children for 3 years and wen the doctors tested her she was found to have cysts in both the ovaries and they gave up hope and told her tat she cannot have a child. But miraculously she gave birth to a boy and a girl who are so healthy..

God can work miracles. Trust in God.
Reply:no
Reply:YES, she def. can. Its the same as a man with one testicle, it doesnt mean they are infertile or they no longer "Work" it just means it will take a little more time because less eggs are being released monthly, but it is still "concievable."

I think i have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome because i have not have my period for 7 months but i came back on?

this month so do i have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome. And i have ovary pains so does any one if i have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome.

I think i have Polycystic Ovary Syndrome because i have not have my period for 7 months but i came back on?
First of all, how old are you? If you are young, irregular periods are normal. PCOS has many other symptoms besides irregular periods. Some of the symptoms are:

infertility (not able to get pregnant) because of not ovulating

increased hair growth on the face, chest, stomach, back, thumbs, or toes—a condition called hirsutism (HER-suh-tiz-um)

ovarian cysts

acne, oily skin, or dandruff

weight gain or obesity, usually carrying extra weight around the waist

insulin resistance or type 2 diabetes

high cholesterol

high blood pressure

male-pattern baldness or thinning hair

patches of thickened and dark brown or black skin on the neck, arms, breasts, or thighs

skin tags, or tiny excess flaps of skin in the armpits or neck area

pelvic pain

anxiety or depression due to appearance and/or infertility

sleep apnea—excessive snoring and times when breathing stops while asleep.

PCOS is something that has to be diagnosed by a doctor.

What is the effect of increased FSH concentration on the ovary follicle at the start of the menstration cycle?

Well since no-one has answered I will give you a clue. What do the letters "FSH" stand for? (Google it)

Is it possible that a transvaginal scan pick up on a ovary cyst?

i miscarried and had a transvaginal scan done twice but i think i have a cyst on my left ovary as occasionaly i have a pinching feeling in my left side.right at this moment i have this pinching pain and has lasted since my last peroid has gone which is five weeks ago .i am still waiting on a peroid.last year i missed a peroid for one month and the doctor said it happens sometimes. what i like to know would the transvaginal scan pick up the cysts or has anyone else have had these pains

Is it possible that a transvaginal scan pick up on a ovary cyst?
A Transvaginal ultrasound is the best way to look for ovary cysts.

You should take a home pregnancy test to make sure you are not pregnant, as one of the previous persons who answered mentioned an ectopic pregnancy could be possible. If this is the case, the sooner you catch it the better, it's usually caught on time because of these pains, but if you just let it go, it can cause you serious health problems and could even be fatal if it goes untreated.

Ovulation also causes pinching pains like that, so if you ovulate very late in your cycle it could be this also.

I just re-read your question, if you've had this pain for 5 weeks, I'm guessing it's the cyst on your ovary causing you pain. These can be removed if they are bothersome. Definitley talk to your doctor about it though.
Reply:yes it will
Reply:Yes, trans-vaginal scans are the most common ultrasound scan for ovarian cysts. You may also be experiencing ligament pain instead of a cyst. Try a warm compress or heating pad there - it usually helps with the pain. Some gentle massaging over the area may also improve circulation to the area.

Definitely ask your doctor as sometimes pelvic discomfort like that could be from a ectopic pregnancy (the egg does not travel completely out of the fallopian tubes when fertilized), or could be a sign that the previous miscarriage was not completely cleared.
Reply:I had a cyst on my ovary about a few months ago. The doctors found it by giving me an ultra sound. Yes There was a pinching pain and your story sounds very similar to mine. They do most likely go away, which means they will rupture on there own. Try taking motrin or ibuprophen it will help the pain. Best of Luck!!!
Reply:I actually just found out that I have cysts on both of my ovaries. They were found during an ultrasound,I have had some tiny pains. If the cysts are small and not painfull they dont do anything ,they say they will most likely go away on their own.I think to help ease your worries make sure you go see your Gyno, get an ultrasound done.Good luck:)
Reply:Yes its an ultrasound

What stage is ovarian cancer in if it was in the uterus wall and the ovary?

also what is the survival rate and the likelyhood of recurrence in this stage and what after a hysterectomy is the treatment if any?

What stage is ovarian cancer in if it was in the uterus wall and the ovary?
Here's a website that goes into detail on the stages:

Reply:It's really hard to determine how far the cancer is. The best answer would be to ask a doctor. Usually when the cancer gets to the ovaries and being noticed, means that it as progressed. Your chances of survival can be good or bad depending on what type of cancer. There's the dormant one and the maleficent one. In an other word, after having the operation, you'll know for sure where you stand.

In angiosperms, do all the ovules in an ovary have to be fertilized for the fruit to form?
1) No all the ovules need not be fertilized . A few of them would do .

2 ) In seedless plants the fruit formation continues irrespective of fertilization.

How is it going the experiences about the ovary cancer cure?

Ovarian cancer is proving to be a tough nut to crack. It is not common, but very deadly, as most patients are diagnosed with advanced disease. Screening tests, including ultrasound, CT scans, and lab/blood tests have not proven to be of much benefit, even in high-risk patients. Even removing the ovaries does not guarantee freedom from ovarian cancer, as the cells lining the abdominal cavity are similar to those lining he ovary, and can cause primary peritoneal cancer in patients without ovaries. Having said that, removing the ovaries does dramatically reduce the risk.

Anyone with poly-cystic ovary had a successful conception?

I have poly-cystic ovary syndrome and am trying to conceive anybody with the same disorder had any luck. What's your strategy?

Anyone with poly-cystic ovary had a successful conception?
Sorry to hear about your PCOS. I really hope that you are able to conceive soon. I thought I would share an article from a magazine of mine that might help you:

"Polycystic ovaries and infertility

A major cause of infertility in women is polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) affection around 25 percent of women. This is the cause of about 75 percent of ovulation problems. In PCOS, the ovaries are bigger than normal with an abnormally large number of small follicles, which are sacs of fluid that grow around the eggs.

The follicles don't mature which means that ovulation can't happen and eggs are rarely released for fertilisation. This has a profound effect on a woman's fertility. Women who suffer from PCOS have scanty periods or, in some cases, none at all. They may also suffer from obesity, bad skin and excess hair.

Becoming pregnant again

If tests show you're not ovulating, you may be offered drug treatment alone, ovarian stimulatio, ovarian diathermy or IVF, depending on several factors including your medical history, weight, age, length of your fertility problems and the method that proved successful for you last time.

If you're overweight, you may be asked to lose weight before you are offered treatment, as this is often all that's needed to cure PCOS and these treatments are more effective in women whose weight falls within normal limits. Treatments you may be offered inclue:

Drug treatment:

Clomiphene citrate is the drug most commonly used in women with PCOS and results in ovulation in around 80 percent of women, with a pregnancy rate of about 50 percent after six months of treatment. If this doesn't work for you, you may be offered injectible hormones to stimulate ovulation. You'll have blood tests and scans to check your ovaries aren't being over-stimulated.

Ovarian diathermy:

Also known as 'ovarian drilling', this is a surgical treatment that triggers ovulation in up to 80 percent of women with PCOS who have not responded to medication or weight loss. After treatment 60 to 80 percent of wommen go on to become pregnant within a year.

The chance of pregnancy is higher in women who have had fertility poblems for less than three years, as well as those with higher levels of luteinising hormone (LH). The operation is performed under a light general anaesthetic via a laparoscopy and an electric current or laser, which is used to 'drill' small holes into the ovaries. This can either restore ovulation or make the ovaries more sensitive to drugtreatment.

The main risk associated with the proedure is accidental damage to internal organs or blood vessels, and of course, the usual risks associated with general anaesthesia. "

Good luck!
Reply:I have PCO as do a couple of my friends. My Consultant told me that we still produce eggs but just not so many of them (for example say 7 eggs out of 12 months not the usual one a month). Trying to put it delicately, I was told that should I wish to conceive, I should increase the frequency I have sex with my partner. Also, there is a drug that is supposed to help with conception (name of which I have forgotten!) that is prescribed by your doctor.

I do know of at least 2 women who have this problem and now have very healthy children. Good luck
Reply:I have a hormonal imbalance that causes the same effect on ovulation as PCOS and many of my 'infertility' group have this. All of us have managed to conceive and give birth to beautiful children. The majority of them used a variety of combinations of fertility drugs and I believe glucophage, as well. If you haven't done this, please consult a fertility expert. There are so many wonderful options out there now!
Reply:Yes and Yes times 2...the trick it to find a doctor that knows what they are doing. PCOS causes some insulin resistance problems that screws everythgin else up, like metabolism and ovulation. I went on the south beach diet, lost 45 lbs ( i need to loose it anyweays) and took a small does of glucophage a diabetic medication. within 2 months I was loosing weight well, got my normal period back and in 6 montths I was preggo.....sometimes if it is very sever you might need some infertility treatments but I would suggest this method first

best of luck
Reply:Tell me when u get pregnant.. I also haf the same problem and was told conceiving would be difficult :(

My wife who is 26years old underwent an laprascopic surgery with removal of right ovary. We are just married.?

Need to know, what will be the post results. Will she be able to become pregnant again? what is the reason for such a removal?

My wife who is 26years old underwent an laprascopic surgery with removal of right ovary. We are just married.?
reason u need to ask her. could have been a cyst or fibroids but if the other ovary is good u guys could still get pregnant it just may be harder for u guys and she my need to take drugs to get her to ovulate to better yawls chances
Reply:You need to sit down with her doctors and talk about it, but my answer would be that she could absolutely still get pregnant with one ovary. Not to worry. :^)
Reply:well buddy....

removal of a single ovary simply means that the chances of pregnancy are reduced to half.......

well technically speaking a female can have 400 eggs ..... thats is 400 kids in her life.......

now at the age of 26 years she has already lost....around 156 chances of pregnancies............

rest chances are now reduced to half........

actually these removal procedures are done n case of poly cyctic ovarian syndrome......... or some other cases.......

Note:

since the operation was successful........ wish her a speedy recovery...... and simply dont worry abt the rest.....

wish u a happy married life.....
Reply:I went under the same surgery for cists removals and a possible removal of the ovary. and that was one of my main concerns on whether or not I would be able to get pregnant or not and they told me that women all over get pregnant with one ovary. So I don't think you will have to worry about it to much. But make sure you ask these questions to your dr. she will be able to give you a better reinsurance. And if your wife had issues with cists on her ovaries that could have been a reason for the removal. Good luck and congrats on your marriage!!

KW
Reply:ummmm

she should but there is a low probability
Reply:There is many reasons why your wife may of had her ovary removed, tumors, cysts, abnormalities etc etc..

There is nothing to worry about it will make it a little more difficult to fall pregnant but not by any huge means. It would just mean that you will only have a chance to fall pregnant off one ovary instead of the 2.

Go to the chemist and get yourself some ovulation kits if you are concerned about her chances of ovulating and start to use them every 2nd day 2 weeks after her last period. I am sure that you will find out everything is ok with her ;)
Reply:Ask her. Your wife should know why she had to have this procedure (laporoscopy), at the very least, the hospital would have had to have her informed consent to it. Even if quite young this is not done lightly and if she doesn't know she needs to talk with her doctor.

Removal of an ovary is probably due to ovarian cysts.

Any after-surgery scarring can affect the potential to become pregnant.

If only one ovary was removed and her uterus is intact then she should still be able to become pregnant.

She will only be ovulating from one ovary now and under the circumstances, a chat with your doctor needs to take place to clarify the situation.
Reply:my cousin had her ovary removed because of poly cystic ovary and she's gotten pregnant 5 times since. I think it all depends on your hormone balance.

Is this true? does a hetrogenious lesion in your ovary mean you have a higher chance of having ovarian?

cancer? I heard this of a few doctors, and just wanted to know if it is true. This was revield in an internal ultrasound on the 2nd of May this year. It is a hetrogenious lession on the right ovary with fluid around it. I was getting abnormal bleeding in 2006 and end of last year. I am booked in for a hystocomy (D and C) and a biopsy. Please let me know your opinions.

Is this true? does a hetrogenious lesion in your ovary mean you have a higher chance of having ovarian?
You are doing the right thing, going for a D and C and biopsy.

It is not 100% that heterogenous ovarian lesions are cancers.

Good luck.

What is polycystic ovary syndrome?

I have Polycystic ovary syndrome. My husband and I have been trying for a baby. with no luck and everything the doctors are saying is not helping. We had been tring of about a year when they said that I had PCOS. and we have been tring for 5 years. what should I do?

What is polycystic ovary syndrome?
Hope this helps you:

Introduction

Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a condition most often characterized by irregular menstrual periods, excess hair growth and obesity, but it can affect women in a variety of ways. Irregular or heavy periods may signal the condition in adolescence, or polycystic ovary syndrome may become apparent later when a woman has difficulty becoming pregnant.

The signs and symptoms of polycystic ovary syndrome stem from a disruption in the reproductive cycle, which normally culminates each month with the release of an egg from an ovary (ovulation). The name polycystic ovary syndrome comes from the appearance of the ovaries in some women with the disorder — large and studded with numerous cysts (polycystic). These cysts are follicles, fluid-filled sacs that contain immature eggs.

Polycystic ovary syndrome is the most common hormonal disorder among women of reproductive age in the United States, affecting an estimated 5 percent to 10 percent. Early diagnosis and treatment of polycystic ovary syndrome can help reduce the risk of long-term complications, which include diabetes and heart disease.

Reply:you can have cysts removed surgically or with a scope if that is not an option with pcos or your cysts reoccur to often try fertility drugs.

if your doctor is not helping try a second opinion

also here is a link with specialists and other information

try this

i hope it helps

good luck sweetie
Reply:You can try in-vitro fertilization. Just because your ovaries aren't passing eggs into the fallopian tubes like they're supposed to doesn't mean you can't produce any. In IVF, they draw eggs from you and sperm from your husband and conceive outside the body. Then they plant the fertilized ovum into your uterus. You'll take fertility drugs for awhile to make sure it takes hold, but if your healthy in the rest of your womanhood there shouldn't be a problem.

The only drawbacks to this procedure is it could be pricey, and the possibility of mulitiple births run higher than natural pregnancies. But hey, it's an instant family right? I'd love to get it done all at once. =)

Good luck to you. We've been trying for 5 years too. But, my situation is a bit more serious and not looking good. I do know how frustrated you feel.
Reply:My sister has had PCOS for years. She wouldn't get her period until she lost weight. I don't know if you have a weight problem, but if you do it would help to get some off, even a little. It's very difficult for PCOS sufferers to do this, but I can attest to it helping my sister a lot. There are many of sites on the web to help.

Will being on my period effect my ovary ultrasound?

I've been sent an appointment date for an ultrasound scan on my ovaries but it will be during my period. Will this effect the results or them being able to do it? Especially if they need to perform an internal scan. (But I'm not sure if they'll need to yet.) I really don't want them to have to rescheldule it at the last minute, I've waited for ages as it is.

Thanks.

Will being on my period effect my ovary ultrasound?
It is necessary to get an ulterasound done during period to assess the function of ovaries. Other wise there is no meaning of doing ultrasound in ur case. okey. Best of luck. All will b alright.
Reply:No, you can get your ultra sound done.

Polycystic ovary syndrome? How did you feel when you heard?

I just got back from my first gyno visit, and she told me that it is very likely I have polycystic ovary syndrome. She made it seem quite simple and easy to handle. But when I got home I started looking it up on the internet, and now I am getting worried and sad about it. She put me on Loestrin 24. I hear that this is a fairly common condition, and I wanted to ask if there are any of you with it, and how did you feel when you were told? Is it something that you will have for the rest of your life (well, the rest of your menstruating life, at least?)

I feel bummed. I'm getting married in a few months and was looking forward to starting a family with this wonderful man in a year or two.

Thanks ladies!

Polycystic ovary syndrome? How did you feel when you heard?
I bawled inthe middle of the Dr. office. I had a wonderful dr and she hugged me and was very reassuring.

It you do have PCOS, you will have it the rest of your "mentrual life" For many people, it is very easy to achieve pregnancy with a few simple drugs. However, I don't want to scare you, but I am finding out on my own there is no guarantee.

People have varying degrees of subfertility. Some can get pregnant just with taking Metformin and others go through several failed IVF rounds.

Hopefully you will be like me and have a wonderfully understanding husband who deals with it with you. When you get ready to have kids, you might be able to right away. You should be sure to have conversations with you hubby though about what you will do if you can not. It is always great to be optimistic, but it will get frustrating if everyone keeps saying it will happen when the time is right and it doesn't.

When you time comes for the great baby voyage :) just stay relaxed and calm and keep in mind there are many options for you if it prooves to be more difficult for you than others.
Reply:Hey Joanie B,

You will be fine. Once your period is regulated, you should be able to have kids. You just might need a little extra help with that. Also, remember to try and keep a healthy weight,as being overweight does not help at all.

When I was told,I was a little sad,but also glad, because I finally knew what was wrong with me(I had gone to 3 different doctors).

Yes, this is something that you will have for the rest of your life, but it is very treatable. Keep doing what you are told by your doctor, and you will be fine.

Good luck to you on your marriage, and everything else.
Reply:It's alot better than many other conditions, stop looking to the internet you'll send yourself crazy. Birth Control pills will regulate your cycle as well as cut down on ovarian cysts. Glucophage is a diabetes medicine used to treat PCOS. Many have gotten pregnant, lost weight, cleared their skin and well as had more energy on Glucophage. A diet low in refined sugars/carbs and animal fats really helps, as well as exercise.

Can u still get pregnant after having your tubes tide and having 1 ovary removed and your unterous removed?

I think I might be having a tubular pregnency. I still have a ovary left. But lately I have been feeling very pregnant. I had gotten the flu a few weeks ago really bad and could not eat or drink for a week ( with all my other pregnencies I got sick just like that). I've been eating a lot food and seem to not get enough. Crazy dreams. Constantly having to go to the bathroom and having cramps and spotting.

Can u still get pregnant after having your tubes tide and having 1 ovary removed and your unterous removed?
I think if you're having a tubal pregnancy then it's a miracle with all you've done to prevent it, but also there should be some serious pain as well. If you're not feeling well, go see your doctor, or at least call them and ask some questions.
Reply:Got to a doctor NOW It might be ectopic and failure to seek treatment will result in death
Reply:Well, the chances that you would get a tubal pregnancy are like around that of being struck by lightning. That being said, if you don't feel right, you should visit your doctor.
Reply:you can get pregnant if you have your tubs tied they could have gone back together take a pregnancy test right away to make it known if you are indeed pregnant
Reply:Yes, it is possible for you to have an ectopic pregnancy if you still have one functioning ovary and one fallopian tube. Sometimes, tubals just don't take, especially if they have been tied versus a tubal ligation.

Ectopic pregnancies are incredibly dangerous and potentially life threatening. If you truly suspect that you may have an ectopic pregnancy, get to the doctor ASAP.
Reply:it's possible but not probable to get pregnant after a tubal. there are other possibilities so you might want to consider seeing your doctor. is it possible you are diabetic? (always hungry, peeing all the time)

Natural Herbal Remedy for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?

My teenage daughter has just been diagnosed with it. I don't want to put her on hormone replacement therapy to bring on her periods (which occur about twice per year). We have extensive breast cancer in the family, and hormone therapy is frightening. Does anyone know of any natural remedies that are safe? Thank you.

Natural Herbal Remedy for Polycystic Ovary Syndrome?
Homeopathic Medicines %26amp; Treatment for Ovarian Cysts, Ovary Pain Neuralgia, Ovaritis

#Apis mellifica. [Apis]

Few remedies cause as many ovarian symptoms as Apis. It has an active congestion of the right ovary going on to ovaritis, with soreness in the inguinal region, burning, stinging and tumefaction. Ovarian cysts in their incipiency have been arrested by this remedy; here one of the indicating features is numbness down the thigh. It has also proved useful in affections of the left ovary. Tightness of the chest may also be present, with the occurrence of a reflex cough and urging to urinate. Mercurius corrosivus. Hughes prefers this remedy in ovarian neuralgia. Peritoneal complications also indicate it. Bovista has also cured ovarian tumors.

#Belladonna. [Bell]

As this remedy is one particularly adapted to glandular growths it is especially useful in acute ovaritis, and more so if the peritoneum be involved. The pains are clutching and throbbing, worse on the right side, the slightest jar is painful, and the patient is extremely sensitive. The symptoms appear suddenly; flushed face and other Belladonna symptoms are present. Platinum. Ovaries sensitive, burning pains in them, bearing down, chronic ovarian irritation with sexual excitement. Much ovarian induration is present. Palladium. Swelling and induration of right ovary. It lacks the mental symptoms of Platinum, such as mental egotism and excitement. Aurum. Ovarian induration. Lilium. Ovarian neuralgias. Burning pains from ovary up into abdomen and down into thighs, shooting pains from left ovary across the pubes, or up to the mammary gland. Staphisagria. Very useful in ovarian irritation in nervous, irritable women. Hypochondriacal moods.

#Lachesis. [Lach]

Pain in left ovary relieved by a discharge from the uterus; can bear nothing heavy on region. Hughes and Guernsey seem to think that Lachesis acts even more prominently on the right ovary; others believe the opposite, the tendency of affections being, however, to move from the left toward the right side. Suppuration and chronic enlargements of ovary may call for Lachesis. Zincum. Boring in the left ovary relieved by the flow, somewhat better from pressure; fidgety feet. Graphites. Swelling and induration of the left ovary; also pains in the right ovarian region with delayed scanty menses. Argentum metallicum. Bruised pain in left ovary and sensation as if ovary were growing large. Naja. Violent crampy pain in left ovary. Dr. Hughes valued it in obscure ovarian pains not inflammatory in nature.

#Arsenicum. [Ars]

Burning tensive pains in the ovaries, especially in the right. Ovaritis relieved by hot applications. Patient thirsty, irritable and restless. Colocynth. Ovarian colic; griping pains, relieved by bending double; stitching pains deep in right ovarian region. It is also a useful remedy, according to Southwick, in ovaritis of left ovary with colicky pains. A dropsical condition may be present. Hamamelis. Ovaritis and ovarian neuralgia. Ludlam praises this remedy in the sub-acute form of gonorrhoeal ovaritis; it allays the pain and averts the menstrual derangement. Ovaritis after a blow. There is agonizing soreness all over the abdomen. An external application of hot extract of Hamamelis acts marvelously in subduing the distress and pain consequent to ovaritis. Iodine. Congestion or dropsy of the right ovary. Dwindling of the mammae; dull, pressing, wedge-like pain, extending from right ovary to uterus like a plug, worse during menstruation. Thuja. Left-sided ovaritis, with suspicion of veneral taint, calls for Thuja. Grumbling pains in the ovaries all the time, with mental irritability, call for Thuja. Podophyllum has a pain in the right ovary, running down the thigh of that side. Numbness may be an attending symptom.

Does the removal of a fallopian tube usually include the removal of the ovary?

I was having a conversation with someone today that said she had her right fallopian tube removed but I didn't want to ask her or sound rude.

Does the removal of a fallopian tube usually include the removal of the ovary?
No usually its just the tube they take, or they might have tied it depending on the situation. The ovaries have a lot to do with your horomone cycles and doctors always try to not mess with the ovaries if at all possible.
Reply:Not that I've ever heard...I think you get to keep the ovaries. Are you talking about having tubes tied? Getting a tube removed is sometimes an extreme measure for a tubal ligation that has failed.
Reply:You keep your ovaries.

You need your ovaries for proper hormone balance so docs fight to keep them in.

In a case where a whole tube was removed it was probably an ectopic pregnancy where the egg was fertilized and attached inside the tube. The tube then would have been damage beyond saving and so had to be removed... Not all ectopic ruin tubes but some do.

Or she was mistaken and she only had part removed so as to permanently end the chance of pregnancy.

Is it normal to have severe ovary pain while having your period?

I have been having them mostly all year and have never suffered this before hand. I have a monthly period for 23 yrs. Any ideas?

Is it normal to have severe ovary pain while having your period?
See a doctor. Self diagnosis can be a dangerous thing. You dont know for sure its ovary pain, you assume it is! Get it assessed professionally!
Reply:It is possible you have fibroid or a cyst to be certain please see a doctor. I had lots of pain in mine too. Turned out to be hormonal.

Lots of luck to you!
Reply:get it checked could be anything
Reply:No, and you may need to take another pap test and also tell them to check for the pain that is in your ovaries. Technically that is not normal and should be checked out as soon as you can. Please! Don't drag your feet on this, It maybe minor or major where they can correct the problem. Please! Go to the doctor as soon as possible! Let me know how it went at Beagirl40@Yahoo.com!

Good Luck and God Bless!
Reply:Any kind of pain that crops up after two decades is a signal that something is wrong. It could be Endometriosis, it could be an endometrioma on the ovary or another kind of cyst (including even a functional one), it could be scar tissue or any number of other pelvic concerns. Best bet is to talk to your Gyn about starting the diagnostic phase, up to and including ultrasound, CT scan and/or MRI; if they cannot confirm or definitively rule out a specific condition and the pain continues, you may want to consider laparoscopic exploratory surgery with a skilled Gyn surgeon. Once inside during the surgery, they can visualize any pathology and treat it surgically and/or take biopsies from suspected areas. Medical suppression may also be considered thereafter in certain instances, including continous oral contraceptives. It really depends on what is causing the pain. Good luck and feel better soon.
Reply:yes it is normal. Unfortunately the only cure would be to get on some form of birth control , whether you need it or not. I had severe cramps for years that were so debilitating, I had to stay home during those days curled up in a fetal position. I was 16, not sexually active, but my gyno told my mom that was the only thing that could be done, due to hormones being out of whack. Try getting on the pill or shot or ring. if that doesn't help it, you may have cyst or something majorly wrong. God Bless!!
Reply:You should get that checked out soon!
Reply:You need to make you a DOC appointment %26amp; get you some good meds.
