I'm 20 years old and I'm going to make an appointment next week with a hormone specialist, I believe I might be diagnosed with pcos. I'm not planning to have children anytime soon (definitely down the line). What kind of tests will be done on me to accurately diagnose me with PCOS? And what will the treatments me at this stage?
I think I have polycystic ovary syndrome and I'm a little nervous about going to the doctor?
If you have irregular periods you can go on birth control. If you have extra hair some types of birth control will help with that. Like Yaz and Yasmin. When you do decided you want a child the doctor can put you on a drug called clomid to help you ovulate.
I was diagnosed by a blood test but the doctor might also do an ultrasound to see if you have any cysts in your ovaries. But the ultrasound should not be used as a diagnosing tool. Some women with PCOS do not have cysts.
And don't be nervous!
Reply:dont worry,its just an ultrasound.not sure what meds,it differs depending on severity,age,etc.
