I want to have a baby but have had a hysterectomy. the doctor left one ovary and took the other along with the uterus. the doctor said that the one ovary will produce enough harmones for me not to have to take any. but does that ovary still ovulate and is it possible to harvest that egg(if it does) to have a baby with a serogate mother?
I have had a hysterectomy. I have only my left ovary. Can you harvest an egg from that ovary for a surrogate?
My understanding is as long as that ovary produces eggs still, YES you can harvest them. You may have to be put on some special meds for a while just to be sure.
Good Luck

Reply:Your ovary will still ovulate and produce viable eggs. There will be the option to harvest your eggs, but it is a highly invasive procedure, but worth it if you want a baby.
Reply:ye s for so long
Reply:Hasn't worked for me yet.
Reply:Yes, that ovary can provide eggs. I know several women with only 1 ovary who have had several pregnancies each.
