Why can a ultrasound not find my left ovary?

I've had extreme pain and very irregular periods and have had an ultrasound and transvaginal ultrasound , it found that my rt. ovary has cysts and the drs. can't find my left ovary. The ER dr seems to think I may have endometriosis and possibly an ovarian torsion(twisted ovary). Has anyone else had this kind of problems and how was this fixed?

Why can a ultrasound not find my left ovary?
i had this exact problem...my bowel twisted into my ovary and i had to have laparoscopy.. it was a minimally invasive surgery, yet became much more complicated that the doctors had anticipated...the pain is excruciating and it is worth it to get it checked out...it turned out my left ovary and fallopian tube had been entirely damaged. please get it check out further...don't go through what i did =/

good luck!
Reply:Sometimes it can fix itself and sometimes it needs a minimally invasive surgery to put it back in it's place. If the transvagaginal one didn't find it - then that's bizarre.
Reply:Perhaps you were born with one ovary.
