Will contraception affect my ability to fall pregnant after loosing an ovary and tube?

At the age of 19, i lost my right ovary and tube due to a cyst. The doc at the time said i should have kids in the following couple of years. Now at the age of 24, i have over the last few years been on the needle. Would this have affected or minimised my chances of conceiving? It has always been a dream to have kids and i am scared that this may not happen. I am off the needle but it has taken a long time for things to go back to somewhat normal.

not by much just a bit I'm sure u will be pg in no time good luck and baby dust to u!
Reply:I think you have a good chance. I wish you luck and baby dust.
Reply:When you say on the needle I assume you mean a injected contraceptive/anti-ovulation med like depo-provera, Lupron etc?

I too did have a Left oophorectomy with tube. I had been on a variety of depo- meds which prevented ovulation/periods up to just a month before that operation, and Exactly 7 weeks after having the ovary removed, I became pregnant. I did ovulate right away, almost like nothing had happened.

But my sister IS having a great deal of trouble getting pregnant after being on the shot for 5 years. Dr. says is could take up to a few YEARS for her to ovulate and get normal cycles again.

I guess it all depends on the person. It is definitley not unheard of..
